While searching for cushion cut info online, I saw this cut - Korloff.

From the picture it looks like a Radiant cut, rectangular, but I think the article mentioned it had more facets than an average radiant and was cut to let in more light to the center of the stone.

Just more marketing? Or what is the deal? I have never seen an ad for this cut or read anything about it, but of course that doesn''t mean anything.

Have not heard about it either... but there are dozens and dozens of branded cuts out there ! Many try to stand out by placing as many facets on a diamond as humanly possible (hundreds ?). The result is a different look than the traditional shape and sometimes (but not necessarily) better overall brilliance.

No one can decide if those extra facets represent an improvement for you... and I have never seen the matter discussed otherwise than as a matter of personal taste (aside the marketing material, of course). I would not expect to be stunned by the extra faceting. But it may turn out that you just love the look.

Now, it is said that more facets do improve the look of large diamonds - it still remains up to you to decide if the size you are considering qualifies for this "improvement" or not. To me, perhaps 5 carats makes the threshold for rounds, but the traditional radiant cut seems just fine for allot larger pieces.

Just my 0.2
