Kooky diamond cleanser question

So I bought Micellar water from Caudalie, which is surprisingly effective. Now, I know I’m late to the party, but I was skeptical. What can I say, it seemed illogical that anything super-hyped with marketing that’s actually called ‘water’ would be anything but snake oil.

However, it made me wonder whether it would work to clean my diamonds of the average light everyday schmutz. I tried a squirt on my necklace, and it worked beautifully and quickly. Wow!

Since I’m still a skeptic, here’s my question: is this me being silly? Correlation doesn’t equal causation, right? So I have to repeat the experiment with a larger group. Anybody else want to play?

Not at all kooky! Micellar water is a surfectant after all. Also, it might be a better rinsing agent than tap water depending on water quality. I clean my rings with micellar water when I reapply sunscreen in the middle of the day. Btw, you painting makes me want to smell all the roses blooming outside right now.

Thanks for your reply!
Ok, so it’s not just my imagination?!
I wonder if it would be worth buying a cheap brand of micellar water and dropping the stones in daily for a few seconds.

Ha, it's truly like soapy water in composition. My routine at work: remove old sunscreen with micellar water, reapply sunscreen. Wash hands. Wipe down rings with cotton pad soaked with micellar water. Dry with tiny microfiber cloth. Admire rings. Let me know how the soaking goes!

I’ll definitely use something cheaper than Caudalie!

I use either Bioderma Sensibio, or Simple. But I love Caudalie as well for the scent! There's a Garnier one for sensitive skin that's also pretty great =)

I could not find a mds for that brand but here is one for the Olay version.
Main ingredient is:
Hexylene Glycol
Which while it is used in a lot of stuff it can cause
eye damage if it gets into it and there are some other warnings but with conflicting info.

You raise a valid point which is particularly interesting given that Micellar water is mean to be used directly on eyelids!

However, this is the ingredient list for the Caudalie version. I’m pretty sure the only issue is possible build-up over time which might be similar to soap scum. But weekly deep clean would help avoid that.

never research the ingredients of makeup.. it will make you skin crawl.

The present disclosure refers to heptyl glucoside included, as a natural solubilizer and as a skin penetration enhancer, in transdermal pharmaceutical compositions. Heptyl glucoside is a natural alkyl glycoside and a hydrotrope that improves solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), thereby enhancing skin permeability to APIs.
