Last week I took my kittens to the vet for their first wellness check. I had had them for 6 days. They had zero problems. At the vet, she noticed one of my kittens had ear mites. So, we treated both of them for ear mites with Revolution --- a topical solution you apply between their shoulders that kills fleas, ear mites, intestinal worms, etc. The very next day both of them had diarrhea. I called the vet and they said that this can be a side effect of Revolution.

A week later and they still have diarrhea. They are acting 100 percent fine besides this. Still eat, play, and drink llike normal. They haven't lost any weight.

Any suggestions for a type of food or remedies for the diarrhea? Currently I have them on Nurto Max Kitten Food. At first I thought maybe the food was bothering them, but they were on it for 6 days with zero issues. I really think it was the Revolution. Unfortunately Revolution stays in their system for 30 days. I hope that doesn't mean they will have digestive issues for 30 days!

I tried giving them some plain yogurt, and they won't eat it.

Help! I am worried about my babies.

Have they been wormed? Tested for feline leukemia? On antibiotics? Have runny noses? If they came from the shelter they may have a bacterial infection and need antibiotics. You can have the vet test the poop for parasites.

They''ve been wormed twice and have had the vaccinations for feline leukemia, with no exposure to the disease. They don''t have runny noses or eyes. Seem 100 percent normal besides the digestive issues.

I''d have their poop tested next.

My dog had diarrhea a few weeks ago, and I googled home remedies. I am not sure if this translates well for cats, but I gave him white rice (plain) mixed with yogurt, cottage cheese, and a mashed up dog treat. My dog DEVOURED this (probably because of the treat) and was better in no time. Also, I added Pedialyte to his water to prevent dehydration.

I hope they feel better soon! I would definitely take them to the vet if it continues.

ETA: I found an article that might help. Link .

My dog was sick vomitting the night before last and today he is fine and I am giving him a bland diet (cooked white rice and boiled skinless chicken).

I bought a book yesterday called The Doctor''s Book of Home Remedies for Dogs and Cats and it says for cats and dogs with diarrhea:

"Keep your pet''s digestive system calm by giving her cooked white rice mixed with boiled hamburger or skinless white meat chicken. Vets recommend mixing 2 parts rice to one part meat and feeding your pet small amounts very 4 hours for 2 days.

If your cat doesn''t care for rice (and many don''t) you can try substituting pasta or mashed potatoes. After 2 days you can begin switching your pet back to her regular diet. Try substituting the bland diet for about a fourth of her regular food once a day for 4 days.

If your pet''s stools are still a little soft - either after or during the bland diet phase- try adding a little Metamucil yo the food. Depending on your pet''s size the vet recommends giving 1 1/4 tsp and 1 Tbl of Metamucil a day for 2 days (this is where I would check with your vet about doing this).

Most importantly, keep her liquid levels high since diarrhea can rapidly deplete the bosy of essential fluids. Sometimes a little Gatorade helps to replensih the minerals the body needs. Dogs and cats seem to like the fruit punch flavor the best. If you give your cat milk, try eliminating it for a few days to see if things improve:

It is possible that the visit to the vet stressed them.

Hope they''re doing better! Let us know.

Thanks for the adivce! I made them a batch of rice and boiled chicken tonight and I will be feeding them that for the next couple days. I gave them some tonight and they ate it up --- rice and all. If they aren''t improving by Saturday I am going to take them to the vet. Really hope I don''t have to take them in, though... last time I went to the vet with them I walked out with a two hundred dollar bill, just for a wellness check and ear mite treatement!!!

Got their poop tested today. Bacterial infection. :-(

Hopefully the antibiotics will clear it right up.
