For some reason I can''t seem to set stones as quickly as I can buy them. I added the 3 small chrysoberyls from Barry''s latest drop to my collection. My pictures all make them look kind of green but they''re really pretty yellow. They''re all 4.8mm rounds.
On my hand with 2 opposed bar cut red garnets from Rick at Art Cut Gems. I really like that cut on the garnets; it gives them an interesting flash. These 5 stones are destined to be a necklace (or at least that''s the plan currently.)
Also from Barry, I bought the pair of grey cat''s eye moonstones. My pictures don''t really do them a lot of justice; they''re really quite attractive.
On a black background and showing off the eyes (somewhat). The cotton under the black velvet was a bit unstable so I couldn''t get them to sit straight.
Thanks for all the shots of the new stones, Kismet. Any setting plans in the works for the sunstone? I''ve been on a bit of a sunstone kick myself lately and am interested in hearing what others are doing.
The three chrysoberyl are lovely, too. And, the cat''s eye moonstones.
Very pretty stones. I especially like the garnets and chrysoberyls together.
I have the same problem with buying versus setting stones lol! I can''t seem to stop buying long enough to collect the $$ I need to set the ones I already have!
Kismet, love your sunstone but the combo of the garnets and the chrysoberyls, WOW! I can''t wait to see that set into the necklace. It is going to be fabulous.
Your collection is growing by leaps and bounds, with the sunstone being my favourite, not only for the gorgeous orange/red colour but the excellent cutting.
Thank you all. The sunstone is really gorgeous in person. It''s a lot more orange looking than I was expecting, not that I''m complaining. Unfortunately, I don''t have a plan for it yet. It will probably be a pendant but I haven''t had any inspirations about it yet.
The garnets I had been looking at for a long while but I didn''t want to buy them because I really didn''t want a 3rd pair of red garnet earrings. When I saw the 3 chrysoberyls, everything just clicked for me then.
