Kelege or Tiffany? Please help!

I am picking out my wedding band and I''m currently torn between two rings. One is a beautiful design by Jack Kelege. I wish I had a pic but I cannot find it online. It is a floral design set in platinum, pink diamonds adorn the center of each flower (approx. 4), and the design is separated by two bands (one on top, one on bottom) of white diamonds set in rose gold. Both rings are similar in price, and I love them both. However, this is my first time purchasing a highly priced item and I want to make sure I''m making the right choice (unfortunately I can only choose one). The jeweler informed me that Jack Kelege does everything by hand, and that his ring would be a better heirloom item than a mass-produced Tiffany ring. Is this true? Or do Tiffany rings maintain their value better due to their reputation? The only thing with the Tiffany band is that I will be getting 2.12 carats v. 1.20 carats with the Kelege. I was hoping I could get some advice from some of the diamond veterans out there...

You must really love pink...so the Kelege is probably where your heart is. So you should get what you want.

If you are asking for opinions...I think the wedding band is something you won''t upgrade. I would imagine that is one piece of jewelry you will continue to wear for many years...your engagement ring is upgradable. Larger single stone...or maybe from a solitaire to a 3 stone or even a 5 stone...but your band remains steadfast and true.

Your choice is not a conventional one. It isn''t a simple band, it is feminine and flower like. Since it has the pattern and texture...and width it will be an eyecatcher. I think I would want to go with the single color of diamonds instead of a burst of color...just that it would remain more traditional. This enables you to wear it later with other colored stones that you may grow a passion for.

Then between the two...I would go with a Tiffany hands down. You are getting more carat weight...and the prestige of it being a Tiffany...the wedding band is the keeper...and it will maintain a certain aire of prestige that Jack Kelege may or may not do.

I second Belle''s question on whether heirloom quality or overall value is more important to you. Also, I have this to say about "heirlooms": if you''re looking to create a special piece you hope to pass down to future generations, bear in mind that future generations may have completely different tastes and styles than what you have. I''ve seen countless threads here where brides-to-be have received an e-ring or other piece of fine jewelry that was someone''s grandmother''s special ring, or e-ring, and they''ve had it totally re-hauled to fit their taste. So personally, if I were going the "heirloom" route, I would want to make sure I basically had the best quality possible diamonds installed in whatever design with the understanding that maybe the ring would not remain intact as far as design for many lifetimes, ya know?

that said, tiffany does make a lot of rings (mass), but most of their items, you can check about the ring you want, are still handmade. *mass-produced* sounds cheap to me and is often used in a negative way, Tiffany rings don''t fit into that catagory IMO.

Welcome Pinkie! I don''t know anything about Jack Kelege designs, but I tried on the Tiffany Victoria ring and thought at the time that it would make an incredible wedding band. I have a Tiffany right hand ring (Swing three row) and I have found the quality to be excellent and the diamonds to be super sparkly. The Victoria would in my opinion be a beautiful, distinctive, and totally classy ring that would never go out of style.

The Tiffany is beautiful. I don''t like coloured stones so I probably wouldn''t go for the other one even if you did have pics, but I don''t see why it being a Tiffany would keep you from being able to hand it down as an heirloom piece. I''d be over the moon if I got handed down something from Tiffany!
