Imo, there is nothing better than fresh air, windows are open first thing in the morning.
Finding the source of odor is key. If Lavender isn't blooming yet, I get organic essencial oil to dab on a cotton ball and place on higher places/corners, in broken in china cups/saucers.
When the flowers are avail, I stuff satchets and place on window sills, drawers, under pillows, hang in closets, pantry, etc.
Simmering lemon or orange rind in 2 cups of water for 20 minutes really crisps the whole house. Doing the same with cinnamon bark in the winter months is also nice.
When Basil goes wild, I get a big bunch and display it in the center of the kitchen just like flowers in a short vase or pedestal, the aroma lasts 3 days. 1 tall spring of Rosemary in a cheap single rose vase works for me too.
Vinegar, I keep old baby bottles filled with vinegar in the fridge/freezer, the tiny hole in the rubber part is large enough to deodorize them w/o spills.
