I'm applying for Health Services Administration, so soft science. Now that I've taken the GREs, done my personal statement, and applied I just have to wait! The only ones who know I'm doing this are my profs from grad school (I already have a masters) b/c they had to write me letters and my husband. I don't want to tell people at work because if I don't get in, then I will just keep my job (I'm in Senior Management at a hospital, but want to teach at the college or grad school level). So, no more diamonds for me for now!
Thanks! Good luck to you as well! I used to be a Manager at a Big Five consulting firm, so I've run some IT projects. Let me know if you have any questions as you go through it.
Good luck to all of you! Yes, IT is definitely a difficult field these days. Since I got laid off, I have been doing consulting work and small projects, but I really want something full time.
Unfortunately my situation didn't turn out as I had hoped.
I would have had the position if the small corporation had decided to fund for it, however, they opted to throw more developers into the soup rather than going with a quality program. It will not help, but far be it from me to tell them that. At any rate, they will reconsider opening the position again next quarter, but that will be too late for me.
I got into my first Ph.D. program today!!! If anyone who's reading this has been in a Ph.D. program and would like to offer me any advice or anything, please PM me
