Hey everyone--

Its been a sad afternoon here. My sister is 22 weeks pregnant, and went into early labor this morning. Apparently her cervix is incompetent, and she had already dilated and effaced before she started spotting. This meant a cerclage wasn''t an option to stop the labor. They have given her an epidural, she is dilated to 8, and they are awaiting the arrival of a child that won''t live past delivery. The doctor thinks it will be stillborn, but if it is born alive, it may live for up to an hour. We don''t know the sex--it was supposed to be a surprise. The minister and the funeral home are on standby to baptize the baby before taking it to the mortuary. Its a very sad situation, made even more traumatic by the losses her and I have both experienced. My husband and I have been through 4 miscarriages over 2 years, and this is my sisters 3rd loss. Her first two were at 10 and 12 weeks. Keep us in your prayers--we need all the strength we can get right now.

I''m so sorry this is happening to your family. I''ll be thinking about your sister and baby. My cousin had to be induced at 24 weeks because she had life threatening toximia. Everyone was hoping but not expecting that the baby would live. The little miracle weighed as much as 2 sticks of butter but today she is a beautiful healthy 6 year old.

Thank you all for your sweet replies and for keeping us in your thoughts. I am trying to stay sane through all of it. We just got the call that she delivered a beautiful baby girl. She was stillborn. My parents and my sis and bro in law got to hold her. It puts everything into a different perspective, thats for sure. I was posting over on RT about my jeweler debacle. Boy how that pales in comparison now. Thank you all again--you are all so sweet.

Bless you all. I can''t describe how wonderful your support is. Yes storm, we have another angel among us today. That was so sweet it almost made me cry again! And Maisie--I cannot fathom the pain you must have experienced in your situation. I never thought in a million years I would ever bury a niece. They say that which doesn''t kill us makes us stronger. I am ready for the stronger to replace the hurt. Thank you all again. You are all so great.
