I would love to hear opinions on this. As some of you know I have been scaling down my collection to pieces that are better quality and more in line with my style. Things that I will actually wear, feel comfortable in and not gather dust in my bank deposit box.

DH gave me a gorgeous 4.75 ct Eternity as a push gift for our DS. It is set in 18k yellow gold in what i think is called a shared prong setting. I think it is gorgeous and I do like it very much, but the issue is that is so damn uncomfortable to wear. I have also lost some baby weight so my finger is really a size 6.25 at the worst of times. The eternity is a 6.5 so that makes it that much more uncomfortable to wear. I did ask for this ring as I wanted a large eternity but my mistake was never trying one on first.

So what would you do? Dh doesn't seem to care either way. As far as I'm concerned it is not an option to keep the ring as is. I view my options as:
- Reset the ring into a trellis. I perfer that setting over the YG one. I will still have the same issue with it being uncomfortable to wear though
-Reset into a bezel eternity which I think might be a bit more comfortable- add miligraining to the bezels to give it a more antique look
-Sell the thing outright and put towards something else
-Use for another recycle project though I have nothing in mind that I need or want right now

Thanks in advance!

I would sell or trade in for something you wear. No sense having it sit in the safe. You can go down in stone size to make it more comfortable for you to wear. I have a 3ct shared prong EB and don't even feel it most of the time.

Dumb question... Are they too big for a DBTY? That would be a cool way to keep your push present.

Ooh I like the dbty idea! Can you remake the eternity minus one stone to get the size you need? Then you can make it trellis or bezel whichever you prefer.

I already have a DBTY necklace that I pretty much never take off. The tcw is only .50ctw but I really like how it looks and feels. I don't think I could go larger.

yes I'm pretty sure if I had a reset it could be made to a size 6 or 6.25. I dont 'mind doing a spacer bar so it doesn't have to be a full eternity. I'm just not sure if I'm wasting money as I find the ring to be too large and uncomfortable. I'm not a sure reset will be more comfortable.

If you are leaning towards a different style of eternity ring, you might want to try several on. I tried a millgrained bezel on thinking it would be comfortable, but it was not. The millgrain felt terribly uncomfortable even though the look was gorgeous. Have you considered a bracelet?

I have 2 bracelets/ bangles that I stack currently and wear 24/7. Then I have a special occasion 3ct tennis bracelet that I also never wear. I had a DBTY bracelet but sold it as it constantly got tangled in my bangles.

I think I'm really leaning towards selling the ring but at the same time I know I would take a rather large hit in the sale, which I hate doing.

Hmm, I would probably just sell it outright.

Have you gotten any quotes for a reset? If it's relatively inexpensive and you think you'd wear it, I would reset it. If it's pricey to reset (i.e. the same or more than the hit you'd take by selling) then I would just sell it.

How about earring jackets?

I haven't started to request quotes yet as I wanted to sort of be on a set path. I try to not request quotes until I know pretty much what I want. I would think the reset would be fairly inexpensive though since I"m providing the diamonds.

As for jackets- I think the diamonds are 30pts each or around there so that would be a heck of a jacket!! Plus I don't have studs!
