HI everyone!

I need some help as we need to contact the jewelry store about the necklace if we want to return it. Long story short my generous and lovely husband (who I am so lucky to have) bought a beautiful 10ct DBTY necklace for me for our 5 year wedding anniversary. It is very nice. I have a .50ct DBTY that I bought pre loved from BEG who purchased from BGD. Now the new DBTY necklace is long- I think it is 40 plus inches so I would have to wrap it around my neck a few times which to me doesn't make it as functional as the BGD necklace. However it is gorgeous because all the diamonds are OMC and OEC's and obviously larger so they are stunning to look at. I'm so on the fense about keeping it! And if I do keep it should i resell my BGD DBTY since I really dont' know what I would do with two of them...even though they are extremely different.

Now the other reason I'm thinking about returning the necklace is because I have been pinning over a VC halo reset since I saw Frankie's. I thought it would be a few years but DH said I could do it in the next 2 if I want (i told you i don't deserve this man!). So if i return the necklace I can do it asap...otherwise I will probably have to wait till next winter.

DH also gave me the option of returning it and getting something else that I really really want. I have looked through a few online places and nothing is really screaming my name- but feel free to point out anything you would want if you could trade it.

I'm just not sure what to do as I'm so on the fense. Do I keep it, exchange it for the reset, or just go in a completely different direction....argh!
Thanks in advance everyone!

oh and another options would be have JBEG set my 5ct Jeff white aqua into their lilly setting! Forgot tto mention that.

Wow Sarah! Your dh is wonderful and so generous! What a lovely dilemma to have. I have no clue as to what is best for you though so I am sorry I cannot be of help. I just know what I would do in the situation which is a totally personal subjective decision of course. If you feel like you are not going to get a lot of pleasure from wearing this new necklace I would return it if you can and start the reset project for your ring if you are 100% sure that is the ring you want. That way you would get the maximum wearing pleasure as you wear your ER everyday. Whatever decision you make you will have beautiful jewelry to enjoy!! :appl:

ETA: could we see pics of your new necklace though? Pretty please? :cheeky:

Now there's the kind of dilemma we should all be facing! :naughty: :D

It sounds like as much as you love the thought of the gift, it seems like your heart isn't in it. You have other things you'd prefer to be allocating funds to. Would DH be on board with that and mind if you channelled your finances towards that instead?

Although... diamond prices always go up and even tho you aren't thinking you'll get as much wear out of it compared to the BGD one, perhaps in time, this will become one of your go to pieces??? Any chance you could afford to keep this AND do 1 of the other projects- if you deferred that project for a bit longer?

Good luck!

That necklace is one of my DREAM pieces, so I may be biased. :)

I'd keep the necklace, I think - you'll be doing the reset eventually one way or another, and in the long run, the necklace will retain value a lot more than a setting would. But if it really isn't your thing, return it and wait for something that sings your name!

Wow, I have not yet seen your necklace and need to go look for pictures of that! I'll have to honestly say that I wouldn't want a 10 ct. necklace, and especially not 40 inches. I want one with maybe 11 stones at 14 points at 16" like one of the real Tiffany ones. I would hope you could do both settings for the amount of this one necklace at least. If that is the case, then that might be my choice. If I kept the necklace, I'd have it made into two necklaces and sell one!

I couldn't find a thread with pictures, but we do need to see this necklace!

ditto/ we need pics!!!

Personally I am not a long necklace person so I would return and do the reset sooner or get something else.

Here is a vendor photo....sorry it is so crappy!

I would shoot Grace or Erica an email, because on another forum I believe Erica said they weren't making it anymore. If you look at their picture site, all of the lily setting folders are marked as discontinued.

Your photo is gorgeous, but if you are not a long necklace person, and you DO have a shorter one that you enjoy, could you remake this one into a different length from your original, keep some of the OEC/OMC diamonds and either sell the portion you are not using as a shorter DBTY or create a bracelet? 40" has a lot of options in terms of keeping/selling a part of it....

How would DH feel if you sent it back? Maybe he just wanted to get you 'something' for your anniversary and would be just as happy if it was returned and the funds redirected to what you'd really prefer. Whatever you chose, could still be considered the 5th anniversary gift.

I also have a DBTY bracelet already so I'm not interested in another one. I did talk to DH and he really just wants me to love whatever it is I end up with. He did say he completely forgot that I already had a DBTY necklace. He saw this was OMC and OEC's and ran with it. He has no problem canceling the order and letting me get something else. At this point I'm really leaning into my VC reset which I have wanted for a good solid 2 or 3 years since I upgraded my center stone.

And armywife!!! oh my goodness they are discontinuing the Lilly!!!! I have to look into that because this is one of my favorite settings. I was hoping to have a CS set in one. Thanks for the tip!

Stunning!! If you arent into long necklaces then return - it seems hubby is ok with that

Perfect! :appl: That is great news he's supportive of what you'd really prefer to do - the VC reset. Glad the pressure of hurt feelings is removed. Now... what photos can you tantalize us with next, interms of the reset plans?? :Up_to_something: :naughty:

I don't think that your as 'on the fence' as you claim. :Up_to_something: I think that you really appreciate the beautiful gesture from DH, but don't feel that this piece is truly what you would have chosen for yourself at this time. It is gorgeous BTW. I agree though, as beautiful as it is, it wouldn't ever be one of my go to pieces. I wouldn't be crazy about having to wrap the necklace and think that it loses some if it's graceful simplicity that way. And since you already have DBTY that you seem to really like, having two similar necklaces when you really want something completely different, wouldn't make a lot of sense to me.

I would go with the halo reset that you really really want! Then in 2 yrs when you would have started the halo project I would reset the aqua!

If the DBTY necklace is not something that you would wear often, then I would return it and get the VC reset.

Thanks everyone!! Necklace is returned, spoke to Victor on the phone this morning and my diamond is being shipped off tomorrow AM for reset. Should have the completed reset back in 5 weeks. AND YES I'M SO EXCITED!!!! :appl: Thanks everyone for your help. As another poster pointed out I think I already had my mind made up but at the same time I kept thinking "10cts of OMC and OEC goodness!!" who wouldn't want that necklace?

I'm going for the Emilya Halo...probably not so exciting as several PSers already have it and have posted it. I'm not doing any alternations so it will be fairly straightforward.
