After all the doom and gloom of recent events, I thought I would post a fun story!

I recently had the rare privilege of viewing a genuine, top-quality antique Kashmir sapphire.

I happened to be wearing my unheated Madagascar blue and took a few photos & videos to see how it well it would hold up in the shadow of a top Kashmir blue.

The results really surprised me, especially given the shocking 4000%+ price difference!

Let’s just say I have a newfound appreciation for my Madagascan beauty.

I’ve had this stone for over 20 years and it is one piece that I will never sell. It will have to be pried off of my cold, dead fingers!

Check out the videos here. Sorry about my over-caffeinated shaky fingers!

The Kashmir is a bit more saturated, velvety and mysterious-looking (more obvious in person)… But this old-stock 2.18ct Madagascar stone held its own quite well IMO!

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of this pairing! Phenomenal!!

Wow!! Okay even to my untrained eye, for 4x the price I would still pick your Madagascar stone let alone 4000x.

40x the price. (40x100% = 4000%)

Sorry, I think it’s a little confusing that I said 4000%!

Hahaha sorry maths is not my strong suit lol. Okay so 40x vs 4x.. I would still pick yours! It's kinda like saying to me I could have an M coloured diamond or an L colour for 40x the price hahaha.

I go by colour and not origin in coloured stones, always.

Each to their own and all that.

DK :))

That is such an incredible vivid, glowy blue sapphire you've got there! You truly have some of the nicest gemstones I've ever come across on PS. I also like your sapphire more than the Kashmir! I'm not sure why anyone would pay 40x more for a Kashmir that looks pretty much the same but has a "superior" origin when Madagascan sapphires like this one exist! I can see why you would never sell this one!

I didn't think anything could top your velvet blue radiant, but now...... :kiss2::-o .......I don't know which one I like more!

If you haven't already, can you pretty please create a thread/post introducing all your favourite gemstones or jewellery pieces? I would love to see what else you have in that incredible collection of yours! :kiss2:

Same, and it has been living in my head rent-free ever since then.

That Kashmir holds a firm grip on my heart. Not because of the origin, but simply because it's so indisputably spectacular.

@Dr_Diesel, would you mind uploading more? One can never truly get enough of such beauty.
