Have you heard of a "gift economy"? A friend of mine left a message saying she was on her way to "experience the Karma Kitchen". So I googled it. According to their website, it''s a restaurant run by volunteers.
From their website "To complete the full circle of giving and sustain this experiment, guests make contributions in the spirit of pay-it-forward to those who will come after them. In keeping this chain going, the generosity of both guests and volunteers helps to create a future that moves from transaction to trust, from self-oriented isolation to shared commitment, and from fear of scarcity to celebration of abundance."
It seems that there are places doing this all around the world as well as some other types of companies. I''m not sure I understand how "paying it forward" in this model is different from paying for your meal, other than it sounds nicer.
Thoughts? Experience?
