Hi, I would like to know what you all think of this stone from James Allen (1447413). I don't know how to post the link. Its a 1.25 si1 K, the plot diagram looks very clean. I am unsure of the K color. What do you guys think. The price is 5440.00 Thanks

Is it on hold? I can't pull it up.

You just copy the address. Pull up the webpage, hit ctrl+L, this will highlight the address bar. Then hit ctrl+c, this will copy it. Then post reply in this thread, and type ctrl+v, this will paste it.

Thanks tyty333

Nice specs! Can you get any info on the feather at 8 o'clock? Is it close to the table? any risk of fracture if bumped - probably easily covered by a prong, but worth asking about.

Otherwise, I'd say lovely diamond. I like J's and K's - the warmth appeals to me!

I think it looks great! I like warmer colored stones - (see my name.) "Warmdiamondlover" haha

I actually called about this stone a couple of weeks ago and the idealscope looks great too. The gemologist that evaluated the stone for me said that the inclusion is visible, but poses no durability issues and is 'mostly' prongable. He also felt that it was a true K. I thought that it was a great looking stone, it just was smaller than I really wanted.

Its smaller than I really want as well. I had my heart set on a 1.5 my budget is only 6500 I think I would prefer a whiter diamond as well. I have been looking for so long I spend all my time diamond hunting. I guess I will keep looking. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

In truth I was a bit concerned about the color as well. I was thinking of playing it up in a rose gold setting, but I just couldn't make myself commit.

Ok, suggestions....as close to 1.5 and I'm assuming because of the color of this one you would like to stay at J, how do you feel about clarity? Is size the most important characteristic to you at this point with color second?

It will be hard to find a 1.5 at 6500, but a PSer just recieved a very nice looking one from IDJ that she is returning because of a small inclusion that she can only see at 6 inches and in 'some' lighting situations. It looked like a very nice stone and a great value. I believe that her budget was similar to yours as well. It may be something that is worth investigating.....

I'll take a look around for you too and see what I can come up with. You definitely want a RB I assume?

Yes a RB as close as I can get to a 1.5. I have been reading Allie's thread as well and wondered what the diamond cost. She wasn't telling. I definately want white. I can handle inclusions depending on where they are. I know the K color tint will bother me. I can see it in my friends J stone, but again I am looking for it. I have heard of twinning wisps but they are not noted as far as I can tell. Thanks

Yeah, I would keep a real close eye on that thread, and maybe call Yuketiel to see if he could send that stone out to you as soon as he recieves it back. It appeared that it had good light performace and that goes a long way it hiding inclusions.

Have you done a diamond search with Zoara at all? I've never worked with them, but I checked them out this afternoon and their prices seem extremely competitive. I'll do a search for you right now.

I haven't heard of Zoara. I have only looked at vendors here especially James Allen. They have great customer service. Always available. Good return policy.

This one scores a 1.5 HCA

This one scores a 1.5 as well

This one is a 2.1 and may be perfectly acceptable to you.

HCA just helps you to weed out some none performers and your personal preference may be for a stone that scores just above or below 2. All of these would need to be evaulated for performance and eye cleanliness and you should ask for an idealscope image as well to determine leakage.

I'll do some more looking around with some other vendors too. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a good candidate closer to 1.5, but we just started looking so who knows right? I like the challenge. :naughty:

Hi Christina, I went on the zoara website they are going to look at the ones you recommended. I am a bit concerned about the Fluor. I have read good and bad things about fluro. Oily, and milky. What are your thoughts. Thanks for the recommendations I really appreciate it.

Very few stones are negatively affected by flour, typically stones in the colorless range DEF are going to be more negatively impacted. I think I remember being told that only 5% of all diamonds have flouresence and that only 5% of those will be negatively affected by it. I have never personally seen one of these stone, but it should ALWAYS be something you inquire about. Stones with flouresence are a good value because they are discounted slightly. Stones with strong blue will have more impact than one with slight or medium blue, and it can often times make a near colorless diamond appear more white. I've heard many PSer say that they think that they should be at a premium. ;) BGD actually has his own line of "blues' because some people will only buy a stone that floureses.

I would ask them assess the stone for any negative impact from the flourescence. Ask them to evaluate the stone for eye cleanliness and and specific tell them what that means to you (ie Allies thread), and also ask for an idealscope or ASET image so you can determine if there is any light leakage or performace issues. Since they also don't have an actual picture of the diamond, you should ask if it's possible to have one taken and email to you along with the IS and or ASET. Zoara is a PS vendor now, so I would also mention that you are a member, PSer often times get a discount with PS vendors. Oh, also ask them to assess the impact of the inclusions, are there any durability risks to the stone, are they prongable? where are they located? on the girdle? table? can you see them through the pavillion? I always ask their interpretation of the color as well. Its a GIA graded stone, but often times a J is a near K or an 'almost I' color is so subjective though, that probably on you will be able to determine if it's white 'enough'.

I really liked the BGD stone too, it's from his virtual selection so you will have to have them bring it in for evaluation. I am more familiar with Brian and his reputation and feel that you would get a very honest assesment. The down side though is that I don't believe that you would be eligible for his trade up policy if you were interested in upgrading in the future. I think that his policy only includes his signature series and his blues.

Thanks Christina, I am definately interested in the trade up policy. That is very important especially if I can't get the size I want right now. I will always want bigger. Diamond prices are crazy now. I wanted to upgrade 3 years ago, I had a stone picked out and everything. I wish I had. I am going to look at Zoara, I didn't have time earlier. Thanks again

I'll have more time tomorrow when my lil guy is off to school and I'll take a look around again for you as well. Have you considered or would you consider a stone on the secondary market? You would have more buying power, although the risk can be greater. Although the last time I looked on ebay it appeared that most people were waaayyy to sentimental about their rings and were asking ridiculous prices with inflated appraisals but there is always that one if you look hard enough.

Second hand market is fine with me. As long as it can be returned. Thanks

Thanks for the link, Its a beautiful ring. I really want the center stone to be a bit bigger. Thanks again
