Would like to finish the process within 2 months or so, so i have SOME time to become acquainted with diamonds. First i guess i''ll start with the budget. $6500 +/- $500 for the setting and center stone total. Would like white gold and a 1 carat more or less center stone. Potentially a solitaire, but maybe some small inlaid diamonds on the band would be nice. I don''t even know where to begin looking/shopping. I would prefer to buy in person or at least be able to preview it in person for a small fee if necessary. I am interested in round/brilliant cut. I''m familiar with what the important qualities of a diamond are cut/clarity/color/carat, but that''s about the extent of my knowledge. As for me and my girlfriend we''ve been dating for 3.5 years or so, both in pharmacy school, have a beagle, and live in birmingham, al. I appreciate any input you have for me. Also, if you know of a reputable jeweler in a 2-3 hour radius which you highly recommend i would be very interested in the name.

Read the tutorials here. They are very helpful . The most important C is cut. Then you can go from there. Good luck!!!!!!!

with your budget you should be able to get a very nice center stone and either setting you described. what shape are you looking for? as kaleigh said, reading the tutorials here and educating yourself is a good start. you found pricescope so you''re well on your way. please don''t hesitate to ask questions, there are many knowledgable people here willing to help.

round/brilliance i suppose. Although I admit i don''t know anything about the more "complex" round cuts i guess? I think one of the primary attributes i''m looking for is the brilliance (?) me and the girlfriend want the bling to really sparkle.

Where's Tuscaloosa to you? This place has been recommended recently. Otherwise, check out the link below my name for some direction.

(edited to add...) F - H, VS2 - SI1 are conservative options and seemingly pretty doable with you budget. If you want to go for something a little larger, many here will recommend taking it up towards J and including SI 2. But, per the tutorial, take advantage of tools you can use to evaluate cut, like the HCA...whether from options on this board, or local to home.

Rgards,

there is no website included in your hyperlink.

Sorry, trying again. It''s listed under resources up top, then to local jewelers.
