I''m in the initial stages of "fundraising" for an engagement ring and need some opinions on setting styles.
My girlfriend is an interesting mix of athlete and traditional girl. She played soccer in college and still keeps active playing sports now. She also enjoys doing yard work and is not affraid to get her hands dirty. With all this being said though, she still loves "traditional" and "classic" things so she''s not a total tom boy. I want to find something that reflects both sides of her personality.
I have heard her say countless times that when looking at her freind''s ring, "t looks like her ring, it matches her personality" so I need to live up to this expectation. I''m a designer by profession so I have an eye for beatuful things, I know whatever I pick will be gorgeous but I want to make sure it also reflects who she is.
After doing a quick search on the web and inquiring with a diamond broker I have used before, I''ve stumbled upon two similar rings that may fit the bill.
Here is the one form the web I found. http://lieberfarb.com/cgi-bin/display/search3.cgi?id=630&c=Platinum+Designs&s=Engagement+Rings&s2=&f=&nhs=18&back=c;Platinum+Designs;;s;Engagement+Rings;;s2;;;nhs;18;;f;
I like the width of the ring because it seems substantial and not too danty but the "engraving" recalls something more traditional and classic.
After showing the ring from the web to the broker, she found this ring that she has in stock that looks similar. It seems a little less substantial than the other one and I''m not sure if I''m crazy about how the prongs look. I think I can get a great deal on this ring though which might make this more appealing.
Let me know your thoughts and feel free to suggest other settings that you feel might be appropirate.
Thanks.
