Full disclosure: I used to be on PS as Never Ending Upgrade. The last upgrade ended, so I needed to reinvent myself. ;-)

I just started browsing diamonds for a 25th anniversary ring. I thought I wanted an Asscher (and I still do, but later), but stumbled upon a post about August Vintage Opulence Ovals. I had been out of the jewelry loop for a while, not even browsing PS for the longest time, so I didn't know about Jonathan's new venture.

I also found an old post I had made back in 2009 about how much I love ovals, so I went to Tiffany & Co. a couple of times and tried on both Asschers (T & C calls them square emeralds) and ovals, both with halos. I had considered a halo ring for my Jubilee back in the day, but finally set it into a platinum Tacori wedding set with trilliants and baguettes and no halo. So, I knew that this ring had to have a halo.

Long story short, Dr. Jonathan has cured me of my "analysis paralysis." This new purchase didn't take 2 years like the last one, so I'm improving. So, without further ado, here are photos of the stone with links to the vids and the setting which will be done by Saturn Jewels. The stone was purchased with the ring in mind, which needed an 8x6 oval.

Probably a band too, so I can have a wedding set:

Work won't begin on the ring until after the new year, but I'm pretty excited about finally getting my oval, so I wanted to post!

Yes, Jonathan told me I am only the second person to buy one! I have to wait a while. It'll take a couple of weeks to get the setting made, but I'm sending the completed ring back to Jon for photos!

Congratulations! :)

This should look amazing :)

Ooh, on a related note (because the link to the video reminded me)...

... @Rhino - you know the videos? Have you considered starting/ending them with the pavilion rather than the crown?

The play of light across the crown is arguably the most important part of the video, and stopping when it's face-on means it's not possible / a bit of a faff to assess side-to-side movement (due to having to re-start the video again).

There are already good quality still pics of the crown side, so for me, you don't need to start and end the video face-on - you could start and end it at the pavilion, giving an unbroken sweep across the crown :)

Just my 2cents!

Beautiful!!! This is so exciting and I'm sure it'll be amazing in your setting :mrgreen2:

Thanks, AC, and yes, I'm excited! We need an emoji that's like fireworks or flowers or something.

Yes I was thinking the same about the videos, would actually be good if it could be looped as well

Don’t want to derail the thread but where are all the new AVRs?? :(2

:drool:We are going to need to see about 100 photos in all lighting conditions.

Ahhh....so excited for you. I'm already an oval fan and these are supposed to be bow tie free. I look forward to seeing all your pics. :mrgreen2:

Beautiful! And I love the setting. I can’t wait to see the finished ring! It will be amazing

:D Hi Whitewave, I can't guarantee this with hand shots, because I am a notoriously crappy jewelry photographer, but Jon will have the ring to photograph, so I'm relying on him to get some good ones!

Wow wow WOW!! That is gorgeous, and @Rhino's new ovals are seriously a game changer! ;)

Ovals are beautiful and the new ones that Jon is having cut are perfect.. it's gorgeous.. Congratulations on a great find..
