just went to NY to look at some loose diamonds. really need some opinions from you guys about the prices, etc.
all the stones are GIA cert. Here we go:

1)1.05 cart, 6.55-6.60x4.05, 61.6% depth, 57% table, VVS2, G, none for fluores, symmetry and polish are EX, thin Girdle.

2)1.01 cart, 6.53mm, 60.1% depth, 57% table, thin-Med girdle, VG for symmetry and polish. none for fluores, H&A, H color.

3)1.01 cart, 6.45mm, 62% depth, 55% table, medium girdle, none fluores, G color, VS2, H&A, both VG for polish and symmetry.

4)1.00 cart, 6.41x3.98mm, 61.8% depth, 55% table, thin-med girdle, none for fluores, H color, VS1, a little H&A shown, EX for polish, VG for symmetry.

for 2) and 3), both H&A look ok, not the best, not the worse. all those diamonds look great under 10x loupe. sizes are good too. but I can''t get other information like crown angle, or other angle information to check the cutting.

Now, I really hope that I can get some inputs from you guys about the BEST prices for each diamonds, from a buyer perspective. you know, I just want to be a smart consumer.

thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If you do a search on Pricescope's home page for diamonds with similar characteristics to the ones you are looking at, it should give you some idea on the range of prices for diamonds of that size, color and clarity.

Ultimately, the most important thing is how the diamond looks to you and if you're happy with it. However, if you want more information on the quality of the cut of the diamond, it would be nice to have a full sarin report, an idealscope picture, and possibly H&A pictures if that's what you're looking for.

Best of luck in your search.

In absence of some light return diagnostic, the H&A pattern (more or less imperfect, as it may be) is the better way to get an idea of symetry and proportions all in one. So....#2 and #3 gets the green light based on this. I would go for #3 given the smaller table (hoping for more dispersion from crown facets - the rainbow colored light flashm that is).

However, it would be much better to choose stones with known optical properties, I supose.
