Is there any place online that'll fit my budget?

Now I am a bit confused: is that the *exact* setting you have? Or did you put down a deposit for that specific style, and the setting will be made to fit whatever stone you choose?

If you already have the setting made you will want to take it to your jeweller and find out what the precise tolerances are for length/width/height of the stone - they may surprise you by how tight they are, esp if it's an integrated head (looks like it) with lots of prong detail (can't tell from the pic). You need to know what mm dimensions for length/width/height the stone must fulfill.

If it's just that you've chosen that setting style your life is much simpler!

Thanks! Solomon said that as long as it's round and between .7 and a carat, they'll make it fit.

0.73 G SI2 2.5k http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1380454.asp (request IS, ask if main inclusion(s) can be pronged - looks like a possibility from the pic)
0.73 H SI1 $2.8k http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1382662.asp (request IS)

The downside of buying a stone from SB is that they won't provide any photos or scans, so the report is the only info you have, and report doesn't tell the full story - sometimes valuable information that could make or break the purchase is hidden in the rounded, averaged numbers on the report. If you do decide to purchase from SB best plan to have the stone shipped out to you to inspect in-person before having it set, to make sure that your eyes like what they see. Also to ask about is whether they have a setting fee to set outside vendors' stones, and you'll need to get the loose stone insured for shipping and setting..

Inquire about these -

Thanks so much! I actually live less than 2 miles from SB ...they have their inventory and an actual brick and mortar store in Atlanta. So, I can see everything they have...big plus. haha

Oh, well, you are in the best position to choose, then! Just go in and see what your eyes think, and let them judge - ultimately that's all that matters :))

Next and hopefully final question: How important is the HCA scale? The rock I like at SB is scoring "very good"...3.2

The HCA is a good blunt weeding tool - it's designed to help you quickly weed through an inventory of fifty stones, and narrow it down to say ten that are "likely worth further investigation". However the fact that it's a quick tool means that it is lacking in precision, and it does let some beauties through the cracks!

What are the numbers on the stone? Or post link to report. I have seen stones that "fail" HCA that I would snatch up, but it's on a stone by stone basis.
