My BF proposed to me last night and I got the ring I picked out. It's so beautiful! We got it from a local jeweler, independently owned and not a mall place. Here are the specs:

GIA certified
0.81 carat round brilliant, SI1, G in color
5.99x6.02x3.65mm
depth 60.8%
table 56%
girdle -medium to slightly thick
polish- vg
symmetry - ex
flur - medium blue
crown angle - 34
pavilion angle - 40.4

so what do you think of the specs? Also, it shines everywhere I go! what would a nonquality diamond be like?

How exciting, Puddy! Congratulations!!! Please post pictures in the Show Me the Ring forum!!! The diamond sounds fine!

I can''t take pictures of it. Seriously, I do a close up and all it is is blurry fingers, no ring in sight. I hope to figure it out and take some nice shots.

Puddy - so happy that you got your ring!

As for taking pics, do you have a "macro" setting on your camera? It sometimes looks like a simplistic flower symbol. That will allow you to focus to get better close ups.

Aww, Puddy Congrats!!! I''m very happy for you. I have to run out but hope to see lots of pics when I get back!!! This is so exciting!!!

The fluro was a huge factor in my decision. I love the idea of having it glow. and I can see some blue when I''m in the sun. I know it''s not H&A or AGS 0 but I think it has decent specs. If anyone disagrees I won''t be offended! so speak up if you think there''s something off about it.

anyone? Now I''m getting paranoid!

Puddy, why be paranoid?? You think it is beautiful! That means you got a stunner! Congratulations

All the specs look good to me, I''m a little thrown off my the pavilion angle at 40.4, I guess just cause I''ve never seen a stone with that angle. But Puddy if you think it is beautiful, then that''s all that matters!

is the pavillion angle too shallow? How does that affect the ring? You can be blunt with me, i can take it! it looks very sparkly in many different types of light but I do wonder if that is just because it''s brand new?

Congratulations on your engagement and ring!!!

I know nothing about round stones so I can only say that if you like it it''s probably for you.

Puddy, I''m also considering a stone with a 40.4 pavilion angle. I''ve viewed it in different lights and it looks very nice to me, so I''m sure yours is beautiful. And, as other people have said on many many threads, it''s not just one factor that determines how a diamond performs, it''s all the factors together working in conjunction with each other.

Now go enjoy that great new diamond of yours!

It scored well on the HCA, but I do know that it isn''t wise to base a decision purely on that. any other insight would be helpful!

You have to take 50 pictures to get one decent one! I hope you figure it out because I know we would all love to see a picture. Congrats on your engagement!

congrats!!!!! keep trying on those pics,,, can''t wait to see your ring!

congrats!!!

LOL....don''t worry your diamond will look the same even 10 zillion yrs from now. just be sure to keep it clean.

well, good!! I got my ring at Knox jewelers in Minneapolis. They were great and very professional. They have a policy of upgrading that doesn''t involve doubling the price which is awesome! I was pretty indecisive about the stone and changed my mind last minute. The cool part is they even have beer in the store!

There is some awesome custom work there but I honestly had no interest in getting anything customized. It just seemed easier to pick out a plain setting and just going with that.

I already have my wedding band picked out from there (not sure when I should get it since the wedding is in a year) and my fiance wants a customized band of some sort. So yay, I''m glad it worked out!

Another PSer is getting a custom setting from them-- it''s going very nicely and she has only goog things to say. CONGRATS!!!
