My boyfriend proposed a couple weeks with a lovely solitaire setting - it has a cz in it right now, until we can find a diamond we are both happy with (he knew i wanted to be "in" on the diamond selection, but wanted the proposal to be a surprise :) ) Anyway, we just ordered this one from blue nile!!!! so excited!!! here are the specs!

i sure hope its a good choice - since it's being delivered tomorrow! It has an AGS Ideal 0 cut, H-VS2, 1.016 CT round brilliant: other specs.

6.5mm x 6.57mm x 3.91mm
Table 60.0%
Depth 59.7%
Crown angle 33.9%
Pavillion angle 40.9%
pointed cutlet
girdle 1.4% - 3.8%

Light Performance 0
Proportion Factions 0
Finish 0
Polish Ideal
Symmetry Ideal
HCA score 1.8 (Light Return - excellent, Fire - Very good, Scintillation - Very good, spread - Excellent)

The amazing thing is that blue nile had it for ~$4500 - which from all the searching we were doing, is a total steal for an AGS0.... most of the other H VS2 1+ carats were well over 5k..... we called and asked blue nile and they said that their different vendors all price differently, and that it was a great deal! I hope it doesn't end up being one of those things that are too good to be true. I have heard great things about blue nile so i hope thats not the case.

Here are my questions: I'm finding some places on the internet that 60% is at the top of the range (maybe even over) for the "ideal" table percentage. But it has an AGSL report that says it's ideal so maybe it can still be ideal because of the other percentages? I also read somewhere that the table is the least critical of the dimensions that contributes to its "ideal"-ness... also, Im wondering if the 1.4% side of the girdle is too thin?

Numbers look good to me. Some just do not like the 60% table, pattern is slightly different and table glare is more noticeable. It is a personal preference thing.

Girdle is good, thin to medium range, just nice.

thanks! what is table glare? (clearly im new to this....)

Table glare is the glassy reflection off the facets, every facet will have that, just that the table facet is by far the largest.

thanks! i''ll be taking it to an appraiser on wednesday morning so we''ll see what he says! hopefully others will chime in with their opinions....

this is very exciting!

Hi solitaire,

Table is probably fine, all diamonds can show table glare - much larger than 60% you might see very increased glare but 60% isn't all that large in the scheme of things, looks like a nice diamond you have there, let us know how you get on with the appraiser. This link explains table size. Girdle thickness is also ok.
