What's your "Just Do It"?????

Mine is that I need to go feed the worms in the worm box (it's in the basement) and top off their newspaper bedding.

Seriously!

I'm not sure why I've been putting it off - it's an easy enough task, and I have a container of kitchen scraps ready to go - but I have been. Poor guys must getting kind of hungry by now. (Insert "feeling guilty" emoticon here.) Plus, I'm feeling bad enough about not doing it that I'm almost ready to avoid going into the basement...

I guess I'll get up now, and tear up some newspaper for the bedding, and just do it!

Why do you have worms?

+1...

Vermicomposting. I have a worm box in the basement. I feed in kitchen scraps, I harvest compost for use in the garden. Actually my box is fairly small and I only harvest about twice a year, so it's not like I'm producing all the compost I might need for the garden... but it's a good way to get rid of kitchen scraps and it does give me high quality compost for special projects or plants I want to baby. But mostly, it's an ideological thing. :wink2:

Anyhow... I did it. The worms are presumably happy now, the waste bin is clean and ready for another week's scraps, and I've washed my hands. :wink2: Ready to move on to the next Saturday chore!

Reminded me of a joke from Frasier -

"What's your dog's name?"
"Eddie. I call him Eddie Spaghetti."
"Why? Does he like pasta?"
"No. He has worms". :D

I guess I posted my "just do it" question with another example!

Mine is 'Go to the gym!!!" I always feel so much better when I go, but it's so easy to find reasons to talk myself out of it.

I recently lost my GIA paperwork and vowed to make some organizational changes. I took a lot of my paperwork out and it's all on my dining table waiting for me to re-organize it. Sadly, it' been there for at least a week. I need to just do it!

Unloading the dishwasher. It seriously takes about 80 seconds to do, but each time I run the dishwasher I'll leave them in there for a day or two before putting them away. Right now they are in there "drying" lol...

That is so so awesome! I've always wanted to try my hand at composting but I don't have the patience and the green thumb. You're so cool VRBeauty!

hahaha rubyshoes, I love love love Frasier!

MINIMS-my grampa and gramma used to have a worm business! When I was little they had a building they owned and they had worm boxes all over. I used to sit in them and play with the worms. Ahhhh memories..

Scrapbooking. Everytime I stop doing it, it takes me forever to start up again and figure out what I was doing, where the photos are...headache.

Omg so many things. Cleaning this gross ass house.

its all just stupid stuff --- take the dogs out for (YET ANOTHER!) pee in the pen; bring the laundry upstairs to fold; vacuum the basement; take the cast offs to be donated; go to the bank to do whatever it is that you can only do in person... those kinds of little nothing things but if they take even the most minimal amount of effort--- sometimes they just paralyze me and I can't be bothered! What a wimp I can be sometimes!

    the very first episode! My favorite tv show, other than friends....currently watching Fraiser "have you seen the paper yet?" "no", "big story of how Roz's purse spent the night"....We got rid of cable because I'm in school full time again so I watch the series on netflix

VR - yay! You did it! I always feel accomplished after doing something I dreaded to do...

Great question, VR! My house is a minefield of "just do it"s, but that doesn't help. Right now, except for the worm box which I don't have, I can honestly say that each and everyone of your answers applies to me. Anything with the dogs - especially cleaning up after them   - that's my equivalent of the worm box I guess.

I know the answer for me is to say "Okay, I'll just do it for 10 minutes and then be done." So I'll set the kitchen timer, and begin. Of course, many days, once I've started, I continue. But on days I really don't want to do "it," I feel much better for having put in my time, if only for 10 minutes.

So that's my reasoning. [Umm, no, I can't really explain why there are clean dishes still sitting in the dishwasher right now... :(sad ]

+1. I would rather do laundry or the cat box...I hate this chore....

Yes, ame, cleaning the disgusting house! Been telling myself to just effing DO it forever & meanwhile it gets ickier. Paying bills, a chore I just hate...I wait till I can barely get them into the mail in time. Also putting gas in the car -- it's booooring.

Big one is updating our wills. That needs to be done & we haven't done living wills, etc., which is important when we live where all the fundamentalists don't want to let a veggie-person die. Sorry to be blunt, but if we got halfway run over by a bus, it could matter. None of this is as much of a headache as putting it all off is. :Up_to_something:

At this moment mine is to go and do the homework for my individual income tax class. It is the last session of homework for the quarter and I put it off all day yesterday, but class is tomorrow night so I need to get out of bed, take a shower, go down to the party room in my building (so none of the myriad of distractions here in my apartment) and JUST DO THE TEN DAMN HOMEWORK PROBLEMS!

OK... Out of bed... NOWWWWWWWWWW...!

Oy, I can relate! I procrastinate a lot. Clean up the clutter...procrastinate. Vacuum...procrastinate. Clean litter box...procrastinate. Right now, get off computer and work out...procrastinate. But after yesterday's damage -nieces bday party...did not eat healthy ugh!-so must get up and work out right this second!!!! OK, thanks for the push PSers... :wavey: I'm off to work out!!! Have a great morning and see you guys later! Everyone, just DO IT (whatever it is you are procrastinating about!!) :wavey:

Yup - that too! (and all that other stuff... but the litter box is a more immediate need! :wink2: )

Mine would be putting away the clean laundry. We often have as basket or two of clean clothes at the foot of the bed, simply because we needed to do another load and had to get other clean stuff out of the dryer to use it. I just hate it so much!

You all make me feel so normal! :appl:

Clean dishes put away! Recycling taken out to the garage!

Next up - thank you notes for last night's dinner/b'day party, and a small sewing project.

I need to go to the grocery store and I'm getting hungry, but it's COLD and I don't feel like it. I did get to the gym for the first time in a few weeks today-isn't that enough things to just do?!

I'm the world's worst procrastinator, or I guess it's the world's best procrastinator.

That's why I have the phrase, "Just Do It!"
It makes all my excuses vanish. ;(

Good "just do it" day yesterday! :appl:

But I still need to write those thank-yous. :nono:

Unloading the dishwasher is the most tedious chore in the world, so don't feel bad. I pay my kids to do chores but when I ask one of them to unload the d/w, they suddenly start doing homework or acting busy even though they will be paid for every time they unload it.

Mine is vacuuming my car. It really needs it but our shop vac is too noisy and it's cold outside and all that.
