I was planning on waiting a few months longer and then trying to find a matched pair of sidestones for my 3-stone project. But then I saw a stone on the BGD website that looked great and was just the right size. It's an H, SI1, .46 ct. I kept coming back to it but was trying to be disciplined. And then this morning I got an email about their leap year sale and just couldn't resist.

I tried to save the pictures from the website but they're just tiny! I guess I'll have to wait a couple of days before I can post some. My ony real concern is that there are inclusions that seem to be right under the table, but Jamie, who I spoke to reassurred me that the stone was completely eye clean at any vieiwing distance and the inclusion can't be seen without magnification. I hope she's right!

Here's the tiny idealscope image. If anyone has an idea on how to make it bigger, I'd love to hear it! Still waiting for the ASET images but I imagine they should look ok.

It looked like you took the thumbnail.

Go back to the site.
That should launch a larger pic.
Take that and upload it.

I'm sure it is a lovely diamond.

Thanks Kenny,
I did, apparently, save the thumbnails. When I right-click on the larger pictures, the option to save the picture doesn't show up. I'm not sure if I'm doing somethign wrong or you just can't save them.

Alene,

But you should be able to take a screen shot and capture the picture. I use commercial software called SnagIt! for that, but there's a freebie called Jing from Techsmith (same company that does SnagIt!) if you don't have something you like to use.

Sooo exciting!!!

Liz, thanks so much for the Jing tip! Here is the stone. You can see the inclusion that worries me, but it's completely eye clean according to BGD.

And here is the larger IS image. What do you guys think? Thanks!

If you are using a mac you can just drag the opened pic onto your desktop - or you can do a screen capture by presseng Shift Command 4, then put your cursor on one corner of the pic, press the mouse and drag to the opposite corner and let go.
This will place a png file of the pic on your desktop.

If you are not on a mac I don't know what to tell you . . . except go get a mac. ;))

Thanks again! We must've posted at the same time. Am stuck with a PC here but at least it looks like I won't have to get a new computer to go with my new diamond.

Should be a lovely stone! I have a .46 from bgd too (its a J/SI1 though).

alene,

I'm glad you found Jing! useful.

Is the inclusion the little dark dot just away from the culet? There are all sorts of dark and light spots and orange spots in those enlarged images that I'm often not sure what's an inclusion and what's just the nature of the beast. Those enlarged photos make is so easy to see things that in real life are just teeny tiny. A diamond that's the diameter of a nice-sized English pea looks like a softball in those big photos.

Yeah, that's the inclusion, the one that looks like a little dot almost in the center. It does have a feather and a crystal right around there, just hopng they're truly not visible without magnification.

I have the ASET now as well as the hearts and the stone has just shipped! What do you guys think? I'm especially wondering about the ASET since I'm less familiar with them - don't think they were available when we purchasing my e-ring stone. The green center is not something to worry about, right?

Sure, the inclusion is visible in the gigantic, blown-up picture, but shrink that spot by a factor of around 50, and you'll get an idea of how tiny it will be to the naked eye when you have the stone in your hand.

Well, I picked up the stone today and it really does look completely eye clean! I can see the inclusions with the loupe but without magnification I see nothing so far. Haven't had a chance to see it in daylight yet but so far I'm very pleased. It's a beautiful stone too!
