so i was sitting in class today and i was looking at my engagement ring and well i started to wonder how my ring would look like with its twin sisters (we are planning on getting two matching wedding bands= the twins) and well i was actually wearing my stack rings on my right hand today and i slipped on on each side of my ring and guess what...the gap i thought i would like i actually DONT like...

so what are my options?

do i

1) remove the surprise stones (can they even do this? and if we go that route i would probably use those baby stones in my bands)
2) get two curved bands?

i dont know help...i guess...

Can you post a pic of your ering?? That will help us.

heres the side of it with the surprise stones

I have the exact opposite problem... I love a gap, but my ring seems to fit flush with EVERYTHING!

What you do sort of depends on a couple of things:

1. Will you want to be able to wear your band(s) solo? If so, will you mind wearing a curved band by itself?

2. Are you sentimental about this setting? I admit I'd be sad to change anything about my original setting. Will you miss your surprise stones?

3. Do you like a gap more with a single band? I know you said you're planning on getting two, but you may as well try it out (if you haven't already).

ETA: One other thing--do you think you'd like your setting as is, without the surprise diamonds? As far as how high it's set to allow for them, etc...

Okay, this is possibly the WORST photoshop done EVER, but do you see what I mean about the dimensions of the setting w/out your surprise stones?

heres a picture with my stacks...sorry its a crappy picture of my stone...but its an idea of the look im trying to go for without the gaps

Emilina,

I''m sorry you don''t like the gap when you have bands on ... Any particular reason?

Do you like the look of curved bands? If so, this may be the way to go so that you don''t have to alter your cherished ring in any way.

I love the surprise stones. Do you have an affinity for them as well or do you not feel one way or the other? If not, maybe if you take it to your jeweler, they might be able to provide you with some viable options that will enable you to achieve the look you are seeking.

Good luck ...

well the funny thing is my FI KNEW i wouldnt like the gap and said he would rather not have the surprise stones there when he was designing my ring...but he ended up listening to me because he wanted to give me my dream ring

i dont know how much i would like to wear a curved band alone...thats what worries me about getting curved bands

i doubt ill miss my surprise stones since well...they would be going into my wedding bands and therefore the sentimental value is still there you know...

i dont mind the gap when there is one ring rather than the two...

i mean we have tons of time to decide on this whole band issue i just i wanted to hear some opinions, and since you guys are awesome at that who better to turn too

I don't want to speak for Sparkalicious, but when I asked about this I was referring to missing having the surprise stones on your e-ring. I didn't think you had an attachment to the stones themselves, rather the fact that they were part of your original e-ring design.

This would give me my answer

Why are you leaning toward two bands?

And that's why we're giving opinions to you!

Thanks Musey.

I meant the same not so much thinking about the stones themselves but more thinking that the surprise stones are a great element to the ering and lend it its own "personality", so to speak, therefore, the ring without them may not be the *same* to Emilina even though the general structure would remain intact..

im such a dork i didnt know thats what you ment by would i miss them...and actually after seeing what it may look like with out them i would...it actually wouldnt be the same ring...because they do give the ring a little something more

i was leaning towards two because i love the look of three rings, its just always been a preferance of mine but im definetly open to other ideas

maybe another idea i had was our jeweler can maybe raise the head of my ring a smidge so that there wouldnt be a gap that way nothing would really have to change on the design of my ring. does that make any sense?

your ring already looks like it''s pretty high I wouldn''t want the head up any higher. you might check and see if there is a way to put the surprise stones in deeper so they don''t stick out so much allowing for the bands to be able to sit a little closer.

thanks mrssalvo thats also a great idea...

Emilina -- You're not a dork, at all.

If you are then we all are.

I figured you might miss them b/c it really does take an element away from the way it is now.

I just knew that MrsS would come along with a FAB suggestion for you though ... Everything will work out perfectly and you will achieve your 3 ring look but still get to keep your surprise stones. After all, what do we PS'ers know about compromise?!

We love our bling ... no apologies.

Sparkalicious- your too funny..you make me giggle! us PS''ers do love our bling and there are so many intelligent members who know how to help a Ps''er in need...

i wonder if maybe another option would be to make a little notch in the bands where the surprise stones would sit, so not so much bands that are curved but bands with small notches in them? does this make sense? i dont know...

Sure, that''s a pretty common thing to do. This has the same issues as wearing a curved band solo, though.

I was going to ask about a possible notch in the bands...I wonder how moticeable that would be if you were to wear the bands without the e-ring, though.

hmmmm MAYBE ill get the bands as eternity that was i can just spin the curved or notched side underneth when i want to wear it alone...haha im trying to find a reason for more bling lol

Dana- thats what i was wondering too...hmm i wonder...

Yup, lots of people do this too

The only catch is that you would have to have eternity bands, and this would mean no (reasonable) resizing. Ever. If you're okay with that, then that's a great way to go.

I know that my fingers change a lot with my weight. I recently lost only 8% of my body weight (about 10 lbs.) and my size 6 ring is getting to be too loose. Yet I was sized as a 6.25 10 lbs. ago, and I got a 6 "to be safe".

So is it a quarter of a ring size per 10 lbs? This makes me nervous to commit to a full eternity ring!
(Says the girl who's currently planning on an eternity wedding band...

haha musey your too cute! i can only wish to have size 6 finger!!!

You could also get two custom made wedding bands with a flat notch part that indents where the surprise stones are instead of a curved wedding band. From the top view, it would look like 2 straight bands without a gap.
