I feel like I''m always the last person in America to try new products, but after living on 99 cent V05 shampoo for 39 years I suddenly got a bug up my a$$ the other day to try John Fieda. HOW MOTHER OF MERCY! I LOVE this stuff!!! I am naturally "dirty blond" and tried the blond lightening shampoo. I swear I saw a difference after one wash! No more "roots" (yes, I was in need of a highlight touch up!). Seriously, this stuff is amazing. I did read some review that said it makes people''s hair dry, but I can''t tell any difference (although it''s only been a week...). Anyone else use a John Frieda product? Love it? Hate it? Most importantly, what other products are out there I just haven''t tried yet?!?

P.S. - I think there was a thread on John Frieda a while ago but I can''t find it now, so sorry if this is redundant!

Hi DeeJay. I answered your other post too but I used the stuff for quite awhile and it made an amazing difference. I quit using it thought when I got a perm; it had really dried out my hair. Probably a good conditioner now and then would be fine. Enjoy!

Did you use the conditioner too or just the shampoo? I am just a shampoo girl because I figure my hair's about 3 inches long so conditioner is overkill, LOL. Also, what kind did you use, the blond?

I used the blonde shampoo and conditioner a couple years back, and I liked what it did to the color, but it did dry out my hair too much for my liking. I have naturally dry hair, though, so your results may vary.

I wound up switching because I started getting low lights as well as high lights, and I figured I didn''t want to strip the color I just paid a bunch of money for!

Hi Dee!

I used the shampoo and conditioner for a while then it really dried my hair out and it started breaking so use occasionally is my advice.

I used the Brilliant Brunette stuff a while ago, and I really liked it! Especially one of the styling products in that line . . . I think it''s called "Glossing Finisher" or something like that? I switched only because I tried Aveda products and got hooked. Aveda actually makes color-specific shampoos and conditioners as well. I''ve been using their Black Malva shampoo and conditioner lately, with great success!

JSM and Lor, I''m starting to get scared by all this drying out stuff...

Irish, does Aveda make a shampoo that will lighten blond too?

When I was blonde I used the blonde shampoo and conditioner and never had problems with drying, personally! I use the brunette line now and love it.

They do! In fact, there are two different types for blond hair:

1. Blue Malva Shampoo and Blue Malva Conditioner - I think this one is geared toward getting rid of brassiness.

2. Camomile Shampoo and Camomile Conditioner - This one looks like it''s more for adding golden tones.

I think both of the shampoos are no longer available online though, so you''d have to get them from an Aveda spa. (It looks like both conditioners are still available online.) Of course, many of the spas will ship, so you don''t necessarily need to have one close by.

Thank you Irish! I think I''m going to keep using the JF to see if my hair gets dry, and if so I''ll probably switch it out with some of the Aveda. (Of course waiting until it is actually a problem to do something about it might not be the right answer, but hey, that''s how it works in The Land of Dee sometimes!

No problem, Dee! And I know what you mean . . . I''d stick with the JF if you don''t have dryness issues, since it''s cheaper and easier to find than Aveda is. But, at least you know you can switch to Aveda if the JF doesn''t work out for you!
