HAHAHA! I love that he asked her if her question about Marx was a joke! I mean, I felt like I was watching a (scarily robotic looking) female Stephen Colbert conduct an interview, except this lady wasn''t joking!

I LOVE how Biden shut her down! Hilarious!

i watched it to the end.....and i did not see anger....i did see well thought out and emphatic responses to the interviewer: but angry he wasn''t. now if you want angry, let''s watch a mccain interview:

This woman is frightening. Seriously, where did she get these questions?

I love when Joe said "I don''t know who is writing your questions..."

Loves it.

I know. Notice he doesn't say thank you back to her at the end either. I can only imagine what he really wanted to say.

Ok, I'm off to a country wedding with a bonfire reception. I'm going to indulge in several "small business beers", and forget about all this for a few hours!

I would like to thank Joe for expressing the emotions I''ve felt for quite some time. The utter disbelief at these laughable accusations. These news anchors can''t do research huh?

LMAO!! My new husband just busted out laughing (I just sent him the link)

oh man...

I agree- I think he handled himself beautifully, given the circumstances. I love how he answered each question calmly and, as thing said, shut her down.

I noticed that he didn't say thank you also! I bet he was too busy wondering who set up his interview with an idiot like that woman!

Have fun at the country wedding-sounds awesome!

Edited to fix crazy quote error on my part!

Boohoo, the great Joe Biden had to answer some tough questions!!!!! Bwaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

I think it was unprofessional of him to ask her about the questions! I guess the station did not get the questions ok''d by the O''Biden camp beforehand. These are questions on people''s minds, whether or not he knows it. Maybe that just shows how out of touch Obama''s camp is with people.

This is so laughable.

If the question on peoples'' minds is whether Marx or Obama have ANYTHING in common it is driven by pure IGNORANCE. For real?! Anyone who would even entertain that idea has either no clue in the world what Marx said, or no clue what Obama''s policies are. Those people are the ones who are out of touch. Frankly, it shouldn''t be the job of the Obama/Biden campaign to dispel stupid myths generated by the hyper-right rumor mill. They have better things to do with their time in the days leading up to the election.

I think he kept his composure remarkably well considering the magnitude of that woman''s ignorance. I would have had to laugh her off the stage for that question set.

Hahaha! Actually, I''d say the questions show that people are "out of touch" with REALITY. The questions were a joke...and not even close to truth or reality. I think that woman is vying for a spot on Fox News as yet another yelly talk show host. I wonder if she even knows who Marx is...

OH, I know that educated liberals are the "elite" and that you all look down your noses at conservatives hanging on to our guns and our God. Your snobbishness is one reason that I do not vote Dem. The comments in the interview are exactly what people are thinking, whether or not they know what they are talking about, and I think a lot of people fear the change that is coming. I also think a lot of people are going to be disappointed too. I actually heard a caller on the radio the other day say that "when Obama gets in, we are gonna get REPARATIONS!, we''re gonna get ours!" That is scary.

SO SCARY!!!!! One guy who owns a phone called into a radio station & said something stupid. CHILLING. I can''t stop shaking. Oh, wait, no ... I''m shaking because someone as stupid as Sarah Palin thinks she''s taking over the Senate any day now!

Reparations? Really -- that''s the scare tactic of the day? Good luck w/that!

star,

With all due respect, the above borders on insulting. We were speaking about Joe Biden and this "partisan" reporter, not about conservatives "clinging to guns and God." I understand you're heated (as we all are), but can we lay off the personal attacks?

Hahaha! Perhaps my favorite thing about this election is the Republican effort to turn the words "educated" and "elite" into insults. God (or am I not allowed to use the word God because I''m a Dem?) forbid someone want to learn and further herself or himself by seeking higher education. What a bunch of snobby know-it-all smarty pants a-holes we educated liberals are!

As for you God/gun conservatives, you need a bit of a reality check. America is not going to be even close to socialist when Obama is the president. I think most of the God/gun crowd doesn''t even understand what socialism is. They just cling to that buzzword like they cling to the whole Obama=Muslim=Terrorist crap that Palin spews.

Gosh, people really should fear the change that is coming...because right now everything is so great in the U.S., change would be a terrible thing! Do you think we can do what NYC did and make it so the president can stay for 3 terms instead of just 2? 8 years just isn''t enough for Bush to completely destroy this nation...he needs 4 more to really bury us!

And like deco, I am SHAKING at the thought of one random radio station caller thinking he is getting REPARATIONS! I AM POSITIVELY TERRIFIED.

The McCain campaign is peddling fear as a way to sway voters, and yes, I'll buy your statement that some people fear the change that is coming. Fear of socialism, fear of the riots that supposedly will occur if Obama loses (and let's face the facts, this is a race-based fear), fear Obama is really a closet Muslim or Terrorist, and wil secretly or overtly advance those agendas once he is in office. The question is one of responsible journalism. A reporter's job is to help bring out fact-based truths, not to buy into these fears without question, parrot either campaign, or to try to make her interviewees look either good or bad.

That said, the original poster and most comments on this thread focused on how well Biden responded to the loaded questions, and not on the inappropriateness of the questions.

star, do you really see Dems as snobby? I'm asking sincerely, as I find your statement rather perplexing. That's exactly how I would describe many Reps I know (that's not to say all though), my mother included. Most of my friends are Dems, not that I chose them because of that, it's just how it worked out. And they are some of the most down to earth, "real" people I know. I love them for that. And by the way, we're all for our guns and God too.

As for change being scary, that's nothing new. Change is scary. But it's definitely time, the last 8 years have been nothing short of disasterous, if we are all to be honest.

This stuff makes me cringe. In teaching rhetoric, I explain to my students that a balanced argument is one where the rhetor/speaker/writer establishes credibility, understands/responds to audience values and emotion, and presents premises that are logically stable. I explain that a good argument is equally balanced on these three things. What bothers me about this political campaign (and the reporter''s questions) is that we Americans have been displaying a trend of being programmed to only look to values and emotion when we "read" an argument and we discount credibility and logic entirely. As far as I''m concerned, West''s questions were, as Biden responded, pretty unethical, strictly because they responded only to the fear-mongering that apparently her audience responds well to. Kudos to Biden for not losing his cool, answering her questions, and for calling her out.

And kudos to you, Elmorton, for your post. (Not only is it well-said, but it demonstrates the three characteristics you lay out as well!)

Well said. I could give her a by on the question about socialism, since McCain has now giveb it parlance, but the Marx quote and reference was both absurd and out of bounds. That is not asking "tough questions," it is absurd. And why was she quoting Marx bout communism in the first place, rather than Lenin or Stalin on socialism? And for anyone to give it equivalence to some of the questions that Palin was asked, such as on policy, supreme court decisions, etc would be even MORE absurd. No one is calling Bush a socialist after the bailout...

I don''t know about "you all" (or "y''awl" here in Okieland), but I like it when I''m accused of being educated "You''re smarter than a box of BOOKS!!!" "Hey, you''re ugly and your mother was EDUCATED!!!!" Works fer me.

Oh...and liberals SELL them the guns too. As my liberal husband would tell you, Obama''s comments about clinging to guns was spot-on. He snorted and said, "I don''t know why everybody''s in such a snit. He only spoke the truth: I recognize the description because I''M the one who sold ''em the guns for 15 years!"*

* husband''s family is "small-town" and husband worked in gun-retail/gun range management/gun safe sales/gun smithing for 15 years...and dragged me to more gun shows than any woman should be required to attend to prove her devotion. Hence my comment on here before, "if it blows a bullet out one end, I''ve probably shot it...", or re-primed it, or cast it...

"...our guns and our God"

Wow, I knew you could buy guns and own them, but who knew you could own your own God

so because people are scared of the name ''Marx'', even though they have NO IDEA what it means or implies, and because some people on Fox news used it in the same sentence as ''Obama'' then it''s the campaign''s responsibility to seriously address these "concerns"??

and how is it not a problem that "people" are thinking about and apparently very concerned with things that they don''t even understand? and if they don''t understand the question or issue to begin with, how are they going to understand the answer? or do they just rely on some conservative newscaster to tell them that the answer wasn''t adequate?
