Jilted Biglaw Associate Sues Ex-Fiancee Over $100K Engagement Ring

Two idiots being idiots. I would've returned the engagement ring if laws in my state dictated me to do so.

Wow. Well, first of all, welcome to PS! These types of suits over refusal to return engagement ring make the news every once in a while. I forget how they end and it would vary depending on state law.

Second, what is wrong with the girl that she didn't want fluoresence?! I like that aspect of my stone.

Third, what is wrong with the guy that he acquiesced to all of her absurd demands and got hosed so bad? To add insult to injury, I'm familiar with ATL and, based on the nature and tone of the comments section, his email inbox is probably flooded with snarky and nasty messages.

Finally, to answer your question, I would (sadly because it's a nice one) return the ring because it is my understanding that it is given in exchange for marriage (conditional).

Came to PS as soon as I read that ATL piece! Anyone else looking for that ring to show up on LoupeTroop now?

She is definitely not painted in a flattering light. For being a lawyer he didn't do too much cya but there's worse things to be in life.

Of course, she should have returned the ring. Although you could have seen that one coming with the way she behaved before she got it.

I'd never take legal advice from him, which might be unfair, but it's how I feel. He doesn't seem very shrewd or calculating. At the very least he's a abysmal judge of character. His ex isn't worth talking about, she's so vile.

I had 3 “failed” engagements in my youth (I had problems saying “no” - oops) and they ALL went back.
No marriage, no keeping the engagement ring.
And all the engagement presents went back as well!
Although some family members, by the time of the 3rd, suggested I just keep the gifts for “next time” ha ha.
I only kept items gifted to me for birthdays or Christmas.
