Anything long, flowing and billowy

A tiara, of course

Kimono

A sexy silk dress with a high, high slit up the side

A sword

Oh man! I want to wear all the things that everyone else wants to wear too! I say, that the whole lot of us take over the world and wear whatever we want to wear every day!
3.gif

I''m sitting here laughing since most of the things listed here- I own!
tiara- I wear every birthday
many corsets
two cloaks, through I''m short
opera gloves
thigh high vinyl high heel boots, I call them my super hero boots

The only thing I wish I could wear is a bikini. I can''t because my girls are freak size and I''ll never find a bikini top to hold them in.

Fun topic! I''ve always had an issue with why it''s so inappropriate to wear items from other time periods or places.

I would love it if was acceptable to wear any kind of head jewelry. Especially on the forehead - you know, kind of like a necklace draped on your forehead instead of your neck? I don''t even know if there''s a name for that.

You can imagine how jealous I was of Elrond in LOTR:

Or Arwen, though that IS a little over the top:

Something with a bodice and a hoop skirt.
...and a hat.

I would love it.

Full-body fleece outfit. I would carry the sword too

Finding good quality hair accessories is near impossible today. It is a shame. There is a huge tradition of hair ornaments (not only tiaras, but combs, clips, etc) but it seems to be lost. I want some nice hairclips, with gold, silver and gemstones!

I think I'd love one day if we all were dressed like it was the post-war forties. They had a lot more glamour then, the clothes were far superior in quality and craftmanship, and the accessories were just as beautiful. Of course you'd wear a hat and gloves, carry a killer handbag, and sport some eye-catching jewelry. Even their 'fake' jewelry was of better quality than today's; that's why it's so collectible.

I'm much too lazy to want to do this everyday, but it would be so cool to be that sophisticated at least once.

I''d also love to wear hair clips with sparkies (crystals or whatever) but would feel like an idiot at age 37! lol If I COULD wear them, I''d totally be into the bobby pin ones with the crystals that extend across them.

Like this Barbara Stanwyck photo from that era. Tres chic, no?

Ahhh this is fun!

I definitely second head jewelry and a hoop skirt.

I think its funny that some of the things listed here are probably the things that women of those times hated most... like corsets and gloves etc. They''d probably give their left arm to wear pants and t-shirts most days haha.

All I would want is a really really REALLY kickass pair of CFM heels.

One of those big Russian fur hats.

And a sari.

Maybe at the same time.

Okay so I''m going to amend that to say... a diamond and platinum halo
20.gif
and angel wings.

Princess, the boss''s wife at the insurance job I had, had one of those Russian fur hats, and I tell you what, it looked so cool! I want one too, but I think I''d look like a dork-I look dorky enough in my Mad Bomber fur hat much less one of those big all fur ones haha!

Still tho..if I''m flitting around in a peignoir, I may as well add a big ole fur hat!

I wish we could just have 1 week like homecoming week in school where it''s a different theme of dress every day.

I''ve always wanted to wear a big, lovely dress with a hoop skirt like they wore in the Civil War era. I am seriously considering renting Civil War costumes for my DH and me for Halloween next year (I always say this, but don''t end up doing it).

I''d also like to sport a flamenco dress in a bright color sometime.

Kittybean, I just LOL''d at work over your flamenco dress!

I love all these ideas. Now I want to wear big rediculous hats and huge dresses with a long flowy cape and a fleece suit underneath it all. And a MONACLE!!!!

I''m surprised nobody has mentioned a monacle!

Big giant puffy gowns - think ''Gone with the Wind'' type stuff. I''d love to wear a dress like what Scarlett wore to the barbecue.

Packrat, my mom got me a peignoir for my bridal shower, and it''s fantastic!! You definitely need to get one.
9.gif

I would definitely want a Titanic era dress. They''re so gorg! I have a lot of ridiculous things in my closet thanks to dance costumes, including a peach colored terry cloth onesie. Whose idea was it to bring those back in style?!

I would love to wear a corset (on some day other than Halloween... lol) and thigh-high black leather boots...
3.gif

I''d love to wear a red flapper dress from the roarin'' 20s!

I''m impressed with how fashionable everyone is! My first thought was fleece because I''m all about comfort, so MC, I''ll go along with your fleece get-up. Knowing some of you in person (and seeing others'' pictures here), I''m picturing you in these outfits and I must say, it''s amusing.
9.gif

Dangit Sunnyd, now I really must check them out!

soocool-I was just googling flapper dresses! I dig the fringies.

I would like to wear a snood and go dancing. If I knew how to dance. Or had a snood.

Black velvet opera cape, lined with heavy satin - the one with the giant hood that bells out at the bottom where it rests on your shoulders.

Form fitting red beaded evening gown (for draping myself languidly over the baby grand as I sing classic torch songs/jazz numbers). Oh...and the BODY to wear said gown. Can't forget THAT, right?
2.gif
I guess I should be glad I can at least actually DO the singing part, since the body and the languid (Pfifer in "The Fabulous Baker Boys" has nothing to fear from ME) parts are right out. Well, back into the opera cape I guess.

Ooo a cloak would be fun!

I was watching a show and a woman was in her house wearing a light flowy robe over a thin nightgown..a dressing gown maybe it''s called? It had slipped down her back and was around her elbows and she was running thru the house. The dressing gown was all billowy and flowy behind her..it looked so pretty. I''d like to wear that and run all over with it swooshing behind me.

Packrat - was that episode the SATC where Aidan takes Carrie back?! After that aired, I put a "long, thin silk robe" on my Xmas list. Mine is red, and I hardly every wear it, but when I do, I usually run a few steps just to see that pretty effect.

It was actually an episode of La Femme Nikita, Obsessed. The woman is in a huge house running up and down the stairs and down hallways-it''s so pretty to watch!

hmmm...
my tastes are all over the place

agree, love the cloaks, the Victorian clothing, the velvet and ribbons thing

I love the idea of "dressing". I think in todays world of t-shirts and jeans, so many of us have forgotten the pleasure of "adorning" ourselves with clothing.
Think back (if you are old enough!) to when a woman would not leave her home without a hat or gloves. I remember my own mom doing that, heck I even wore little white gloves to church and often really dressed up just to go clothing shopping in downtown Houston. We would shop and then have a ladylike luncheon in one of the dept stores. I remember
when women wore slips, girdles, stockings, garter belts - ugh. Now that was torture! I miss that era, maybe it''s just that I really like the clothing from that time - Jackie O, the sixties,
the Dior Fifties.

Anyway, besides, the Victorian clothing, I also would love to wear a classic Chanel suit and then switch the jacket and wear it with jeans and pumps !! tee hee

I second many of the things mentioned:
Cloak - I just saw a movie with Diana Rigg (In This House of Brede) & she was wearing a cloak. I also see them sometimes in catalogs. I would wear one IRL, except for me they would not be warm enough!

Hats. Big, gorgeous hats - I hate wearing hats, but since this is a fantasy thread, wish I could wear them, like wearing them, & look good in them.

"A diamond tiara or a crown of roses like the one I wore for my wedding" - Diamond tiara, or even more, I see gorgeous necklaces & other fancy jewelry at some stores, that seems like you'd have to be at the Coronation of the Queen (or maybe be her) to wear - would love to wear them.

Likewise, Alistra is on to something with the wedding thing - I wish I could wear an updo, maybe some little flowers in it, etc., something like we wear for our weddings. It would be fun to have my hair done in some pretty way etc., but people would say, "you look like you're getting married." Also, I was going to say, would love to wear a lot of things Grace Kelly wore, even before I noticed Alistra's avatar.

The muff idea is fun too.
"dressed like it was the post-war forties" - likewise a lot of the 1950s styles; they were so classy, flattering & feminine. À la Grace Kelly (again) or Audrey Hepburn.
(of course it also helps if you look like them
