Okay, don''t think that I''m a crazy loon here, but just for fun, if you could wear ANY article of clothing, (that is not really socially acceptable at this time), what would it be?

I have always wanted to wear a cloak. Like a long, flowing, swooshing cloak. haha. I just think that they are totally cool and really pretty.

I don''t know why I was thinking about this, just a random thought that came into my head the other day.

So what would you wear???

Fairy Wings.

I would love to be able to wear sari and kimono/yukata out in public.

I''m neither Japanese nor South Asian though, so I''d have folks everywhere screaming "Cultural Appropriation!" at me.

(All nationalities can safely wear jeans, and fleece jackets if it''s cold though, so why can''t I wear something from another continent?)

I''m with you on the cloak thing too.

Ooo a cloak would be fun!

I was watching a show and a woman was in her house wearing a light flowy robe over a thin nightgown..a dressing gown maybe it''s called? It had slipped down her back and was around her elbows and she was running thru the house. The dressing gown was all billowy and flowy behind her..it looked so pretty. I''d like to wear that and run all over with it swooshing behind me.

A peignoir?

You know what I would love to wear? The outfit Faith Hill wore on the Sunday Night Football lead-ins/theme song this past season--short black long sleeved dress, and thigh-high patent leather boots. That is a super hot outfit but I would have absolutely no appropriate occasion to wear it here.

Hats. Big, gorgeous hats.
All the time.

Peignoir it''s called? Ooo that sounds so dramatic and sexy! Sounds way better than long swishy robe haha!

I didn''t see the Faith Hill outfit, but it sure sounds hot! I''d have no place to wear that either..tho what does it matter? If I''m planning on running everywhere in my PEIGNOIR, you can wear her outfit anywhere!

Oooo, I don''t blame you! You have the perfect face for "portrait" hats with huge brims. I wore a black one in some of my senior pictures from high school and the effect was very cool. They''re so elegant!

When I got married the hostesses of one of my bridal showers asked everyone to wear hats to the tea room where the shower was held. That was so much fun, a lot of ladies rose to the occasion and went all out, Victorian lace dresses, beautiful hats, gloves, etc. It was great!

Oui, google it and you'll find all sorts of interesting descriptions/definitions! Oh-la-la!

ETA: I just saw your response below, Elrohen--a hoop skirt and ballgown would be so fun! I LOVE this thread!

I was in a friend''s wedding and we wore gloves-it was cool!

A diamond tiara or a crown of roses like the one I wore for my wedding. I once mentioned to a friend that I wanted a diamond tiara to wear around and he looked at me like I was a total nutcase!

A super-soft, fluffy, tea-length tulle skirt! (This is extra odd because I''m kind of a tomboy.)

I had a friend in high school that made her own "winter" cloak. It was huge, green, and warm. She got a ton of looks but didn''t care. Hehe.

I think I would wear... a mini mini mini skirt. I don''t have the legs or body for it, but if I did (or, if I ever do) and you see some stupid girl wearing the shortest thing ever in 10 degree weather. That''s me.

I would want to wear a gorgeous, extremely elegant Blackgama fur coat. Full length with silk lining and a full collar and cuffs. And I would walk fast and it would sort of billow behind me, making a statement wherever I went.

Of course, I''m not really comfortable with fur, I live in New Orleans so the weather''s all wrong, and I would never spend the money for something like that but it''s one of those things like the tiara.

Ha, thanks! Now I just need advice on where to wear it...

Swishy, satin lined, velvet cloak with a muff!

I always thought a muff would be so fun to wear when I was a kid. I''d read about them in books, but when can you wear a muff?...

I had a muff as a little girl. A string looped through the muff and you wore it around your neck so you didn't drop the thing. It had fur trim and matched my dress-up coat and I wore it to church. Obviously I didn't drive.

A corsetted dress with a full skirt and major cleavage, like all the women at Renaissance Fairs...

Angel wings and halo.

A tiara.

But I also really like the dresses from Jane Austin''s era because they hide all the bad bits and put the good bits on display

I''d wear dresses like this one - all day long. Heck, I''d even sleep in them!

maybe a big silk ballgown like in the 1600''s or whenever they wore them lol

A corset.
