I found a good diamond at 2 places-

They both will match each others prices 5350-5425 Including the mount (Tiffany style white gold 14k)placement etc. As far as insurance renters insurance covers the diamond with a deductible.

Here are the stats

Dealer #1
GIA 2101836718 for 5350 Round - Carat .9 COlor G, Clarity- Vs2 cut---Excellent Polish Excellent Symetry Very good

GIA 51666384037 ( 5425) , and GIA 1159268789 (5400)

Dealer # 2
GIA-2136561642

Same as first .9 carat G color vs2 Excellent cut, Cloud
Excellent polish very good symmetry FLuorescence none

Original price 5670 (they will price match Dealer #1 with proof of prices)

Is the pricing right? I CHECKED bluenile and couldn't find anything close they charge more for the Tiffany band and I wont get to see the diamond before I buy it.

More concerned about the stone and not the price. you get what you pay for there is really no deal when purchasing a diamond unless you buy preowned >. I think this is why we keep telling you to go with a 3x ideal stone........Don't mean to beat a dead horse. When the stone has very good symmetry it will be very good. When you take it outside of the store away from their perfect lighting you will not see the sparkle that you want with a round brillant stone.

Called the store in battle creek we will see what he says. He told me there will be no difference with the naked eye for the stones I got.

He is however going to look into ex ex ex stones for the same price. So think how you want

I find the title confusing. How did the jeweler mess up?

This is my last post for you. And I doubt anyone else is really going to help you either, because as previously stated, your attitude has completely turned us off. We are volunteers. You aren't paying us. So we don't have to take your bad attitude. And we won't.

They are trying to help you. Once you see - or IF you see a perfectly cut diamond (and not one that a jeweler is telling you that is a perfectly cut diamond - it has to be graded a perfectly cut diamond) you will understand WHY they are trying to lead you to spending your hard earned money on a something that is worth it. Not something that is average. And to get the best value for you $$. But not when you come here with an attitude that your average jeweler is going to give you the best deal. He's not. He's going to sell you what his profit margin will give HIM the best deal. He doesn't care about you.

I happened to buy my daughter a perfectly cut diamond band by accident on eBay and it put ALL my diamonds to shame. The difference is night and day. Hearts and arrows. I'm looking for my own diamond now since I've seen hers. My diamonds were "good". Or very good. Hers were excellent. There is just a huge huge difference.

So go buy your average Joe diamond with a Very Good cut. It's what a lot of the other people have (but no one here once they knew better). Maybe if you are lucky she won't notice any difference. But don't run these people down that are trying to give you their very best advice and are frustrated that you are not listening to them.

TY SO MUCH! THIS is HELPFUL now I understand what you are talking about. I can take it from here

Once again----Start Before forums .83 J color VG VG VG ----same price --finish .9 G color Ex Ex Ex

A VERY GOOD cut is not what you want. They have said this over and over and over again. That is what they are so frustrated about. A very good cut is what they sell at the Mall stores. They don't sparkle. They don't shoot fire. A very good cut is over priced.

Stay far far away from a VERY GOOD CUT. They only sell to the uniformed people.

Is your girlfriend special? Does she not deserve the VERY BEST? She's going to be wearing this a long time. Why are you settling for something VERY GOOD when she is not?

According to the Holloway cut Advisor

The GIA ending in .789 from previous post Ex/Ex/VG sym has a excellent excellent very good verry good rating on the Holloway cut advisor with a score of 1.5

The GIA 2156728788 EX/ex/ed same color etc as top has a good rating and a 3.3 VErgy good dont buy unless the price is right.

SO to your quote STAY AWAY FROM VERY GOOD CUT based on the standards set by Holloway cut you are wrong and it isn't black and white but maybe gray.

OMG I"m going to join all the others. Bless your fiance.

The HCA tool is not the end all be all. It's a tool of exclusion. It tells you what to throw out. A stone under 2 does not mean that it's an awesome amazing diamond that you should buy right away, it means that it warrants further examination.

You are so ridiculously rude to the posters here who have only tried to help you. Do you not see your attitude problem? God bless your girlfriend, because I know I couldn't handle someone who treated people like this.

Sheesh.

He has done his homework even if he isn't taking every suggestion offered here.

His girlfriend will get a beautiful diamond, much nicer than she would have gotten if he had gone to a mall store, and probably much nice than what any of her friends will have. And... very important, it will be much nicer and larger than she would have gotten if he hadn't stopped in here.

So - y'all did well, and so did he.

OP - Congratulations, and enjoy your proposal and engagement!

"The GIA 2156728788 EX/ex/ed same color etc as top has a good rating and a 3.3 VErgy good dont buy unless the price is right."

THIS was the deal killer for me.

Well, maybe it was this one..."He told me there will be no difference with the naked eye for the stones I got. "

THIS was when I knew he just KNEW IT ALL. And SHE was going to get what HE wanted to buy her, not what SHE deserves. God bless her. 8 years. I bet she's surprised she's getting a ring at all.

No.

Definitely paying a few hundred more than you would online but if buying in-person is critical it isn't catastrophic. Good luck.

Ditto to Yssie.

Bless the great members of PS. Ssalerno truly doesn't deserve another minute of anyone's time, but I guess his poor fiancé does.

I concur with what the others said about your attitude, though. We were all trying to help you get the best performing diamond for your money, and buy it online, but you are not interested. That's fine, it's your decision, but don't come here and act rude to people. Nobody here owes ya a darned thing, Sonny.

Hi Steven,

I looked up the diamonds you went to see and all are nice. I could probably save you a few hundred bucks using a 14kt white gold solitaire but we do not finance. Let me know what you saw. You would save a bunch going to a .80 to .89ct diamond with the same quality grade and the size difference would be about .3 hundredths of a millimeter difference. Then you could get into one of our nice mountings in 18kt white gold or platinum. Opens up a whole new world of design for you. Let me know.

Bill

Sincerely,

From Battle Creek guy

Come on, let's be fair. Some people (men as well as women) can be clueless about buying diamonds. His fiancee might be over here in a short while wanting to upgrade that diamond and/or band with pave and/or a halo :appl: since "she said she wanted diamonds to be everywhere".

My DH refuses to buy me any more jewelry since I told him I wanted a pair of diamond earrings. Sigh. I would have been happy with a pair of diamond stud earrings from Sam's Club. Somehow he got lured into a shop that opened up UNDER the mall with 20 watt light bulbs and he bought a pair of diamond cluster earrings for $99. on SALE!! I guess maybe they looked better in that lighting or something?? What they looked like in daylight was gray. He saw my face and said I could exchange them if I wanted to. I was down there the next day and I think if I had waited another day the shop would have been up and gone. Of course the guy would NOT give me my money back. I threatened to call the Mall Police and he then offered to exchange for something in store. I finally walked away with a gold chain since it was marked 14K. But ever since then, no matter how many times I've tried to educate him about Cut, color, grade etc. he just refuses to learn. This is from someone that can spends days researching the latest gun and accessories to buy. So I just buy my own diamonds and tell him what he bought for me.

HAHA most people buy rings at the mall. I took the time to consider the 4c's plus the 3 ex/ex/ex My girlfriends ring will shine brighter then her friends :P they went to KAY for a yellow diamond (J color I clarity)and some of them didn't go diamond :D

For my age....yea I get it when your older (over 30) you have money. So the competition is more stiff. GL everyone thanks for the help :D .

You're still clueless and disrespectful, ssalerno.
Hopefully, this improves with age - along with your spelling.

I'm requesting to have this thread locked - at this point commentary on both sides has, in my opinion, ceased to be productive or helpful to OP.
