I found a diamond that seems to me to be a bit cheap for the specs listed at Jewelry Zone so i''m trying to work out why! Are Jewelry Zone any good? The stone is CEGL certified - could this be why?? Any other reasons why this rock seems to be cheaper than expected that anyone can think of?

Never heard of the lab CEGL, and haven''t heard of Jewelry Zone either. Best to stick with stones that are certed by AGS or GIA.

The thing is they have a lot of GIA and AGL diamonds and are one of the websites returned in Pricescope searches - i don''t know if this is a potential bargain or disaster!

saw a CEGL on E-bay. CEGL = Clarity Enhanced Grading Laboratories. Don''t know if the CEGL you found on Jewelry zone is the same one but better check it out.

Jewelryzone is listed under vendors, it is probably the cert which accounts for the price. I haven''t heard of this lab, maybe it is a C.E diamond, check carefully if you want to pursue this.

A lab report is only as good as the lab that produced it. Anyone who wants to can call him or herself a gem lab and can write an opinion on a piece of paper and someone will call it a ‘certificate’. Your basis for deciding that this may be a bargain is because you are comparing it to offers of other VS2-F’s of similar size, right? If the lab is all wet than this isn’t a useful comparison. Put another way, why are you sure it’s not an SI2-H? It makes a pretty big difference. Have you seen the stone? Has anyone (other than CEGL)?

If you can’t figure out who CEGL is, and you can’t convince yourself that you have a valid reason to be interested in their opinion, ignore it entirely.
