Jewelry Cleaner - US vs Steam

Hey Guys,

I figured I would start a newer thread regarding jewelry cleaners as my searches could only find threads 1-2 years old. In any regards, I was thinking of purchasing an US cleaner or steam; however, am completely torn on which one to go for. Here are some options that I have found online. Suggestions, comments, and opinions are welcome! Thanks!!

US: Haeir HU335W: $52
US: Haier HU380S - $37 (programable) - why is this one cheaper then the 1st one??
Jewelry Jet - Steam - $100
US: Random - $19 (Looks like the Haeir only cheaper)
US: Gemoro $45


As of now, the ering only has a solitaire stone, however, should there be any concern on getting steam vs. US when you incorporate smaller diamonds on the setting? It seems in previous threads people were torn, so I figured I would ask again and see if opinions have changed.

I''m not sure if this is possible with the JJ steam cleaner, but I like the idea of just putting the jewelry in the US for 2-3 minutes without having to hold it and turn it as the JJ steam cleaner video shows (if you just left it in the basket would it be clean??).

Anyways, if anyone can comment on what they have or would recommend after experiencing their cleaners, that would be greatly appreciated.

I don''t recommend the Haier. I went through 3 of them before I learned my lesson. They all inevitably fell to pieces (like, literally plastic pieces of its innards would break off) and/or started smoking.

I''ve never had a steam cleaner so I can''t offer any comparisons on that point, but I like that I can also clean my glasses in the US.

Here is the jewel jet for $69.50. It works fab for cleaning jewelry. You might also want to google around to see if you can find a coupon

Edit - I have both an US and the jewel jet. I use both on different occasions. I dont think you could just leave the jewelry in the basket
of the JJ and have it be as clean as it should be. I havent had the JJ very long so I can tell you which one I would rather have. I really
like my JJ though.

I have the Gemoro US cleaner and it works great. I got the accompanied cleaner as well. The only thing I dont like is I dont have anything to dry my ring with so sometimes it leaves the water spot. Ive tried a dryer but that still sometimes leaves a spot. I read in another post that tissue paper works.

I have had both the ultrasonic (looks exactly like the first haeir) and jewel jet.

I loved the convenience of the ultrasonic because it was so easy to use while in the shower/getting ready--just fill and push the button. I used that for a daily cleaning, until it broke down

I used the jewel jet mainly on the weekends or to clean my family''s jewelry (after the ultrasonic) as theirs was quite dirty and needed the extra cleaning. I rarely use it anymore, it''s not worth it to me to spend 10-20 minutes cleaning my jewelry right now.

So now I just soak in hot water and dish soap (using the jewel jet accessories lol) and sometimes a little mr. clean. Brush gently with a disney princess (kids) toothbrush and dry with canned air or a microfiber cloth.

I miss having the US because I feel it cleans just slightly better than the soak/toothbrush I do now and it''s more convenient (I''m lazy!). If I could only have one of the two, I would go for the US (but a higher quality one).

Im looking at getting a steam cleaner as well.

I use compressed air to dry off my ring. You can buy it almost anywhere (it''s typically sold for cleaning keyboards or camera lenses). If used gently, it removes all the water quickly - no water spots at all.

I have both the US and JJ, loove the JJ. Whenever my ering gets a little muggy and I don''t have time, I just wash my hands with hand washing soap or with dishwashing soap and then steam my ring after washing my hands to add that kick to a somewhat clean ring.
All my friends who have erings love it too, they come over and ask me if I could steam their rings!

I use both the US and then steam it with the JJ for special occassions or when I have time to kill

I agree that the best is a combo of a US and the JJ.

You can get a package deal on ebay for the Gemoro and JJ for $100 w/free shipping for BOTH! Can''t beat that!
