For those who may be interested, the 26th annual Jewelry and Gemstone conference will be held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island from July 15th-20th. The conference is run by Joyce Jonas, an authority on period jewelry
Among the topics covered are Introduction to Diamonds from ancient until today, pricing antique cut diamonds, and mining of diamonds:varieties and sites. There will also be lectures on some of the top jewelers such as Van Cleef and Arpels, Seamman Schepps and also the auction blocks.
I have not taken the course but signed up this year because I heard great reports about it and many of the speakers are authorities in their fields.
This is not a commercial because I do not have any connection with it or any of the people involved but I thought it might be of interest to some of the people on Pricescope. In addition to diamonds, it covers colored stones, pearls, and designs from the various periods such as Victorian, Deco, Arts and Crafts, Georgian, etc.
