Can anyone recommend a jeweler in the Philaldelphia area who would be willing to do some work on a ring that was not bought from that jeweler? I would like to make minor adjustments to a ring and am unable to take it back to the original jeweler. The ring is platinum in case that is important.

What kind of "work" do you need? Does the ring have stones set in it?

If soldering has to be done as part of the work needed, it is possible that the stones will need to be unset and reset again, if the area is near where soldering is within close proximetry of any stone.

Laser welding tool, could possibly eliminate this, if you need sizing, and there aren''t any stones near the area. Not many jewelers have this tool, because it is very expensive ( about $ 30K).

Dave Atlas may know of someone who has one in Philly.

The ring is a platinum solitaire engagement ring that is a cathedral setting. The sides of the "cathedral" do not touch the prongs, and I think they come up too high, I would like the angle of the cathedral made smaller so that there is less space between the "cathedral and the band, if that makes any sense. I do not beleive any soldering would be necessary.

Sounds like you want the sides of the part near the stone "lowered"? Is that correct?

Exactly.
