Does anyone know of a good jeweler in Philly? I prefer someone located in center city because I don''t drive. I am looking to set a ring. Thanks.

I do not know any there but in the burbs I know some. Not totally sure about pricing but quality and service are good.

Jeff Barsky, the latest generation of the of the Barsky Diamonds family store on Jewelers Row, has been on Pricescope a few times and if you search you may find some of his postings. Their store is large and very attractive. Once you get to his place, there are many competitors to shop in or to buy from. On Jewelers Row you''ll find a wide selection and different personalities. Some guys are pure pressure, others are laid back and some are "crazy"....But eventually, you''ll find a personality and a diamond which you feel good about.

There''s Caleb Meyer @ www.calebmeyer.com

I''m not sure what all he can do- his rings have a very "organic" look, but I''m sure he can do custom stuff too.

I "mapquested" it from the Crowne Plaza on 18th and Market (I was staying there one weekend) and it was about 11-12 miles from there. You could just take a cab if it''s too far from you to walk.

There''s 8520 Germantowne Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118
and... 1112 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107

Hope that helps- good luck!

Thanks oldminer and Amanda for pointing me to Jewelers Row and Caleb Meyer. Both of these locations are very close to me. 5 min walk to both side. I think my girlfriend will be delighted to know that there are quality jeweler shops this close to us.

My friend got her engagement ring at Barsky Diamonds and is very pleased with it. I also live in Philly but haven''t been to Jeweler''s Row (around 7th and Sansom) yet.

Jack Kellmer (in between 15th & 16th & Walnut) is very good. Linde Meyer (in Liberty Place) is excellent. I''m very happy with the things I''ve gotten from them. Tiffany''s is at Broad and Walnut (next to the Bellvue Hotel).

I second Linde Meyer. My husband and I bought our wedding bands from her. If you''re into modern designers, she has some amazing pieces. Also very sweet. When we bought our bands, she had them hand engraved with our initials and the date of our wedding as her gift to us.
I''d go back in a heartbeat.
