I need to resize my Leon Mege plain platinum solitaire as it came off the other day in the washing machine. That was a harrowing 30 mins waiting for the cycle to finish and trying to figure out whether it's small enough to go down the drains. Thankfully it's insured too.

I requested a quote from Leon and with shipping it's almost $400, 1/4 of the cost of the setting. I don't want to be cheap but I also think that is a bit much. Does anyone have a jeweler they would recommend to resize my platinum ring down a half size? SF or East Bay would be easiest for me to get to.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bay area PS'ers love Joe Escobar…. but if it was a branded piece like LM, I'd spend the money to ship it back.

Thanks! Still considering sucking it up.

Joe is 1.5 hours south of my home so if anyone knows someone closer to the city, Oakland, Danville/WC, that would be great.

nkarma, you have a designer piece made by a metal genius. please don't bring it in to any ol' jeweler to resize it.

I had a prong missing from my Singlestone e-ring. I took it in to Eric Trabert Goldsmiths in San Francisco and can't tell the difference between the one he replaced and any of the others. He carries (or at least did at the time) Singlestone rings and knew Ari, which helped my peace of mind at the time.

Thanks Parrot Tulip! I will call them today. Glad to hear you had a good experience.

Would you consider adding sizing beads instead so that you will not have to resize when your finger swells or gets larger down the road?
