I have a steamer that I bought from Sharper Image that looks similar to the Gemoro. I have only used it once in over 2 years. It is bulky and takes up a lot of space. Full confession that I never leave any appliance out and am a bonafide neat freak. So I find it's more of a hassle than anything. I find a toothbrush, blue dawn, and a monthly ultrasonic clean keeps it all sparkly. I don't even use the us for pave or antique pieces but I always clean after every wear.

I have the Jewel Jet, and I think I've only used it 2 times. It's a hassle, it's huge, and you have to be very careful how you use it. I have so many items that I would never use with it. I prefer the baby toothbrush method. I also have an ultrasonic cleaner. I have some bezeled items that I use it on. Other things I wouldn't use in it.

I had the Jewel Jet. It did a great job at getting my diamond rings super clean, but I also rarely used it. It often dripped water with the steam, which was a turnoff. I mostly cleaned with a brush and cleaner. I also have a GemOro professional grade ultrasonic and I used that more often. But even that was sometimes a hassle... I recently got the ever-popular $40 Magnasonic ultrasonic and I have to say, I LOVE it. It's just so compact and easy to use. Maybe it doesn't do as thorough a job as the Jewel Jet or the GemOro but it's so easy to use that I use it daily, vs the others which I used every couple of months or longer. And if I really want that freshly steamed look, I just wipe with a Q-tip and alcohol after the Magnasonic and it's killer.

I started out years ago wanting the best of the best and thinking that I was getting more value with the higher price tags. Wish I had saved myself the money and realized the inexpensive ultrasonics are popular for a reason. :))

I had the Jewel Jet a number of years ago but only used it a few times out of sheer laziness. It did a great job; I just didn’t have the counter space to leave it out at the time, and it was such a hassle to get in and out of the cabinet.

I really missed the ease and sparkle of steam cleaning, though, so I bought the Gemoro a few months ago and use it at least weekly. I plan on leaving it out on the counter in our spare bathroom once our downstairs remodel is finished. I love it! I don’t see any difference between it and the Jewel Jet, other than I love that my old Jewel Jet was red and had that deco kind of styling to it. Performance-wise, it’s identical, from what I can recall about the JJ.

I have the Gemoro and have it permanently set up in my bathroom. When I have a shower, I clean my jewelry - simple.

Also, The Gemoro - along with a large bottle of their cleaner - is part of my standard gift to girls who have just gotten engaged. They're always thrilled with it and it starts good habits right away. :) I add a photo frame - everyone who has just become engaged needs something to store a beautiful engagement photo in, obvs! - and it's always very, very well received.

But back to the cleaner....

I've had 2 over the last 6-8 years or so and, not being a high ticket item, they do wear out after a few years. But they're not expensive and they do a great job, and I just replace it when it's given its life for a good cause. :)

So I'd definitely recommend them.
