I know - I would''ve thought they go after smaller animals, not dogs, but then again I live in NYC (and obviously no coyotes around here) so, what do I know? Do pray that her pup is still alive somehow, but if not, I hope she didn''t suffer.Date: 9/15/2009 11:36:42 AM

oh my goodness, that''s awful! Does that really happen..a coyote just shows up and snaps up your dog? Seems incredible!
she''s having a bad year...feel bad for her and that poor doggie!

This is terribly sad. I feel bad for Jessica, especially because her pup was taken from her right in front of her own eyes.
My husband never allowed our small dog (a Jack/Rat) to be left out in our backyard alone or even with our older dog when she was little because hawks are known to swoop down and pick up small animals all the time on Long Island. Our Uncle sees the bunnies that live in his yard get swept up all the time. It''s so sad to witness.

That''s just horribly sad... we have a pack of coyotes that roam the hills behind our house, we can hear them howling at night and I have seen them in our neighborhood roaming for food. Hubby heard them with a dog the other night he said it was just awful. It happens a lot. I feel just terrible for her. The more we encroach on land, the less land they have to roam for food.. we have all sorts of wild animals in our suburban neighborhood. This is one reason our yard is fenced and I never let my cats out.![]()
