Since the price of diamonds wont be going down anytime soon (possibly never?!?) I figured it wouldn't hurt to start looking to purchase stones for a 5 stone ring or eternity band now, despite the fact that I probably won't get married for a year...

i had been eying the rose cut parcels on JbEG, and decided to call to inquire about 5 matched stones that are smaller than the 2.73ct parcel featured on the website. Grace was super nice and accommodating--she let me know that she had set aside 5 oval rose cuts, 1.72ctw, for herself for a 5 stone, but she had been working on another project and said she would like to see them go to a good home ;) She got me photos within a day or two, and I fell in love with the high crowns and chunky checkerboard facets. Imust have looked at the photos and video a hundred times. I was originally looking for 5 round stones of the same size for a ring to wear with my ering, but I showed them to FH, and he liked them and encouraged me to pull the trigger. I figured these would make for nice finger coverage for a RHR, and I could just get a plain wg band to go with my ering.

So I finally PayPal'd Grace last night and I should have these little beauties in my hands in the next few days...

I have been looking online like a psycho looking for a setting design that I'm totally in love with. I was thinking of doing a very delicate milgrain bezel setting, but I haven't been able to find a photo of one that is delicate enough. I asked Grace what her plan for them had been, and she let me know that she was planning on setting them in a matte rose gold bezel setting, which sounds amazing. I think they would be so pretty in yellow gold or rose gold, but I don't know if I want the setting to match my ering, which is 18k white gold with lots of engraving and filigree work in the gallery.

Has anyone seen an oval 5 stone that is amazing? I have pored over the 5 stone thread, and I haven't seen anything similar. I love these stones, but I am having a hard time finding images of what I am envisioning. And now to make things even more complicated, JbEG has posted a gorgeous parcel of French cuts, and i wonder if I wouldnt be better off buying those for an eternity band to wear with my ering instead?!?! I still have time--The PayPal transaction is still pending, and I doubt Grace will ship before Monday or Tuesday...

Any guidance/honest opinions would be appreciated!!!

well, I love the rose cuts  but I saw the listing for the french cuts last night and....swoon!!   The french cuts are not going to sit there for very long so if you really think that you would like to have them, then I would pull the trigger very quicly. They are listed in the pre loved forum as well. I think that if you are going to be searching for wedding ring soon anyway and know that you would like to have frenchies, then I would move in that direction and do a 5 stone in the future. The rose cut parcels have been sitting there for a bit.

If I hadn't just pulled the trigger on a center stone upgrade then I would have been all over those frenchies!!!

WOW, those are going to make one GORGEOUS 5 stone ring  You did VERY good lady!!

OH, if you change your mind and get the French cuts, I will take the rose cuts! In fact why don't you take the FCs and let me have the ovals?

Those are gorgeous!

I saw a graduated oval anniversary band on eBay the other day. The setting wasn't great, though. I think the overall look you're planning has the potential to be stunning!

I love the oval rose cuts, but the french cuts are amazing too! If you truly want the french cuts, you should probably snap them up now. ha ha Either way, I can't wait to see what you do! Very exciting.

I'm getting the ovals! Hopefully I will have them in hand by the end of the week. Now I just need to find the perfect setting! If anyone has seen an amazing oval 5 stone setting, let me know! I haven't found much online

I like that setting, but i would love something that has a bit less metal on the bezels, and is a bit lower. I'm really not sure if anything like that exists. I don't *have* to do a 5 stone either. Maybe once I see the stones I will decide a 3 stone and earrings, or a 4 stone and pendant will work better... We'll see...

We all are psycho diamond/stone stalkers here :naughty: (or at least I am). It takes me a few thousand views to pull the trigger on something. So you are in good company!
I would wait until you get them and see what the finger coverage will be for different configurations. I have a smallish finger size and a five stone in some size stones would look like brass knuckles on me.
I have seen some really delicate looking bezels done by Singlestone. Really everything they come up with has been perfection.
Can't wait to see what you do! Beautiful stones!

You have several options with those stones.
