I''m about to purchase a diamond and setting from them do they offer a discount if I tell them I came from Pricescope? And does anyone know if they will have a diamond sent to an appraiser before setting.

a) I think the only "greater than standard" discount they'll give is if the particular diamond is also listed on Pricescope boards. So...even if you didn't originally find it here, see if it's not here anyway.

b) I don't think any more...however...in the alternative, they give you 30 days. This way, though there may be no credit float, your relationship with your appraiser is not in any way prejudiced...they're solely working for you. It's better this way, and you can thank Jim for increasing the days to 30 from 10, when he did send to an appraiser.

(edited to add...) but check me on both...and particularly (b)...I could be wrong, and he may be flexible. I can see advantages and disadvantages to keeping the chain of ownership with Jim until it's a finished product, especially depending on your intention for the appraisal in the process.

I bought my diamond from jamesallen. Yes, they offer a pricescope discount, but you have to ask specifically for it. It''s about 5% with the wire transfer price. They will send diamonds to an appriaser before purchase, but it would be just as easy to buy it yourself, take it to an appraiser, and return it if you don''t want it within 30 days.
