Hey all,

I posted yesterday about looking for a cushion. This listing just came up which seems very fortuitous:

http://loupetroop.com/listings/rings-natural-diamond-center/1-dot-16ct-k-si2-avc-diamond-in-platinum-knife-edge-solitaire-setting
http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/7913/

Would anyone have any reservations about that stone?

I also really like this more modern cushion from James Allen - any thoughts about this one?

Or should I just keep looking? I still need to call OWD and ask about their options as well.

Have you seen or tried on any cushions? Have you seen any AGS/GIA K color diamonds IRL?

The reason for my questions: Be sure to look at dimensions not carat weight when comparing so be sure that size is what you want.
I ordered an AVC for myself and was floored by the cut! It was absolutely gorgeous but looked smaller than I imagined so I returned it with the thought to save up for a larger diamond. It was a 1.34 O color. The color didn't bother me, but I would have prefer a higher color. I think how you intend to set it will have some bearing on what color is acceptable to you. Some people like the contrast of a lower stone in a halo, others don't.
I have a K EC and I'm happy with it, but if this is for an engagement ring be sure the intended wearer won't mind the tint.

If you buy the pre-loved diamond you won't have any trade-up privileges with GOG. So be sure it's "the one".

I have a 1.33 K colored AVC.. (see my avatar).. it's totally white looking at it from the top.. if I put it next to my 1.64 H MRB it show 'some' color nothing that I would say is extreme, but I wear my AVC in a pendant, which I love love love... I like the older cut diamonds because they show more colorful lights (blue, red etc), but less lightening bolt effect (more like many lights), the AVC and AVR are beautiful... personally I'd like an AVR and a modern cushion and an emerald cut :) so there you go on me..

best of luck!

Do you prefer the square or rectangle?

I've seen pictures of your stone before and it's so lovely! I have no concerns at all about color. My only real concern is size (but I'm constrained there by my wallet.) Thank you for chiming in!

I don't really have a preference, they're both pleasing to my eye.

I have an N AVC and it is the only stone that was love at first sight. I love it. There is nothing like it but I also understand about size :naughty: it definitely matters!! And budgets...... darn those $$. I appreciate modern cushions too but I am not crazy about the one you picked. What is your budget and specs? Maybe the more experience Pricescopers can help pick some choices for you.

In regards to size for those two stones, you really wouldn't notice a difference.

Actually from personal experience, I would ask GOG if they would honor the trade in policy. They may accept it as long as all the paperwork is sent to you too (looks like it is included in the listing so that's good).

That being said I have a K cushion and I love it. I do see some tint occasionally but it's not enough to bother me plus it matches well with the chunky facets.
