Hi there, I tried to do a search because I thought someone else might have asked about this, but nothing came up. Has anyone else tried to click on the James Allen ad for 15% off preset studs? When I click on it it doesn''t take me directly to the preset studs, and when I find my way to the studs I don''t see anything about the 15% off? I emailed their customer service dept but haven''t gotten a response yet...

Anyone know anything? Also, has anyone purchased the preset studs from James Allen? They seem to be quite a bit cheaper than searching for 2 diamonds separately to have set as earrings...and I''m trying to convince FI that he should buy me some diamond studs as a wedding present!! haha I''m not subtle at all...if I waited for him to have the idea himself I might as well wait to see pigs flying around our house!!

Anyways, thanks for the help! I''m not usually one to venture over to this board since I didn''t find this site till after FI had already proposed...but everyone over here seems so knowlegable and helpful!! TIA!

I don''t remember who it was, but someone recently bought some studs with martini settings and was very dissapointed in the quality, and sent them back. If I can find the post I''ll put it in here.

oh really? well crap. i really like the six prongers, the setting is really close to how my eternity ring is set...

thanks :)

I was also interested in James Allen''s pre-set studs in 18K 3-prong martini set. They are a lot cheaper than WF. But they only mention the color and clarity of the stone, not the cutting on their website, so I sent them a email inqurey. Didn''t get a response right away, so I called them up with my question. I was told that since the stones are none certified, therefore they don''t know about the cutting grade. If I concern about the cutting I could get the certified diamond. But latter I received an email response of the following:

"Since these diamonds are non-certified, they do not come with certificates describing what level of cut the diamond has. However, I can tell you that we use Ideal and Premium cut diamonds in all of our earrings. I guarantee if you make a purchase you will *love* the earrings."

If I end up getting pre-set studs, I think WF would be my choice.

thanks keiko! yeah they really are quite a bit cheaper, and the 6-prong setting looks so great to me...i''ll see if i ever get a response to the email i sent them. sounds like i won''t for a while, so that''s a good indicator of the level of customer service to me.

thanks again!

The 6 prong setting that they show in their banner ad are so beautiful. Are those the ones you are thinking about getting? I hope it works out for you!

of course, the hard part is convincing FI to spend a grand on earrings for me....but they are classic right? that''s what i tell him, that i will have them forever. i did see another thread where someone mentioned that you should check to make sure that the jeweler offers full-value trade-ups for down the road...i''ll have to check into that too, because I''m sure at some point I''ll be very interested in that!!

Ellen, if you check this thread again, were you able to find that post about the person who returned their JA studs? I did a bunch of searches but i wasn''t able to come up with anything

Hey guys!

The preset diamond studs are sort of a new addition to the website and I will sit down with the staff and make sure everyone knows *exactly* the high-quality materials we are using for these designs.

Before we introduced the new designs (including the hand made six prongs that are the subject of this thread) we "interviewed" about a half dozen companies that specialized in diamond melee. We asked each company to send us samples in various carat sizes. We examined each pair for overall quality of cut and even ran sarins on some of the larger samples. In the end we chose a partner from that group who was known in NYC for specializing in ideal-cut melee and who now consistently provides us with beautiful, accurately graded diamonds that are all within (or very close) to ideal cut proportions. The diamonds we use in our preset stud program would not qualify as AGS000 or GIA EX/EX/EX, however we pay quite a bit of time and money to make sure the quality of these diamonds is superior to just about anything you''ll find in your typical store.

Hopefully I can find a way to consolidate this information into something a bit less wordy and get that posted on the website. Until then I invite you to contact me personally if you have any questions, and offer to pay return shipping if anyone purchases these studs and is disappointed.

All the best,

Kara they are classic looking. Dare I say I like them better than the typical martinis. I hope your FI will agree. I would give it a shot. Jim said they would pay for the return so you would have nothing to lose. WF's ready set go studs are not upgradeable so I guess it is about how much you want to spend.

James, thanks so much for your reply! As for your banner ad for the pre-set studs, is the 15% off already reflected in the prices shown on the website? I still have not received a reply to my email I sent to your customer service department I sent last week.

Thanks again!

karasue,

I have asked everyone in customer service to check for your email request but it isn''t in our active leads. Is it possible that our reply is in a spam/bulk mail folder at your email provider? Regardless I would invite you to email me personally and I will work to answer all of your questions in a timely manner.

The prices on the website do *not* reflect the additional 15% available to PS referrals. To get that discount you can either place the order by phone or put a comment in the "special instructions" portion of the checkout process. The 15% off Preset Studs ends February 29th.

All the best,

Just FYI, I have a set of 3 prong JA martini studs set in 18K white gold. They''re .66 total weight, AGS 000., ideal H&A, G SI2. I was literally ACCOSTED today in Trader Joe''s by a woman demanding to know where I''d purchased them. They are fiery, brilliant, and lovely, and I highly recommend JA.
