James allen setting; 6 Prong=Bulky?

You can get the images from their customer support based on consumers who had bought before.

My first ring was. 6 prong a nd I never felt it was bulky. I was glad for the extra security. It was a .35.

i had my .84 in a 6 prong from ja for a little while. the prongs were a little bulky but not unbearable. better than i thought they would be because it was the cheapest setting. with that said from the 360 images of that setting im not in love with it. the pave seems to be mostly metal with only a few diamonds.
I know your budget is 800, i assume that 850 one is too much? maybe they could do that other diamond band with a regular 6 prong instead of that lotus head that it has?

i just dont think that setting will be able to hold up against a huge lovely diamond like you will be putting into it. Id hate for you to get it and be disappointed.

another thing to consider would be to just get a plain shank now and then for your wedding bands get 2 diamond ones and wear them on either side of your ring...that would give you a fair budget for a nice setting, and then lots of bling with your whole set

Round 6-Prong Tulip Style Peg Setting
Stuller Item #: 314:174:S

If they use something shapely like that tulip head, you can have the 6 prongs and it won't be too massive for that shank. Even with a 2ct. It's a sturdy head that supports a large stone well.

eta: I noticed that JA lists .25-1.79ct as the range for a round stone in that setting. You might need to pick something more substantial in the shank.

Thanks for replies..I have a budget constraint so i can't get expensive settings :(
May be I should drop the band and get a nicer setting. I have seen some nice settings from Gabriel & Co. as well
My preference is single band of diamonds...

Niel, you remember all the details :) you are awesome!
I checked with them for Tulip setting, to remove basket they will charge $150 :(

Oh you have more budget constraints because you want to get the band at the same time?

Unless you're getting married asap I say don't get the w band yet. You might have a little more wiggle room closer to your wedding. Plus, idjewelry has nice diamond bands at a nice price.

yeah, may be i should drop the band.
I like raised settings and having difficult time picking one on James Allen...
I am looking at their designs...

oohh i like this one! Why doesn't it show up when i sort by price?
Not that i looking deeper, totally confused with adjectives used for pave settings!
Whats diff between french/common/Art-Nouveau etc.
