I'm hoping to have my ~.81 ct solitaire reset into a halo setting from my current Vatche royal crown. The solitaire setting doesn't do much for my hand shape and I'm hoping this will be my "forever" ring. I was long the Vatche "grace" but that will not sit flush with my wedding band. (Wedding band is a chunky platinum band with about 10 dotted diamonds around).

I was browsing around and came to this ring and I kind of love it: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/platinum-pave-halo-and-shank-diamond-engagement-ring-17305p.html
It's also at a great price for a platinum setting and will sit flush. What do you all think? Any other suggestions I should consider? Thanks!

BUMP..

any thoughts on this setting and re-setting with JA in general? It seems like a great deal and I think it will go great with my wedding band. There is a similar one on whiteflash but it's $500+ more and I think this one's just as beautiful!

If you like it then go for it :)
The only reason I might say consider the WF one is because they use a high quality melee. I don't know what type of melee is in that JA stone. That would e the only thing you might want to consider

have you thought about looking at ID Jewelry's website? The have some halos.

Looks like a pretty setting, but very thin, no? I hope it's sturdy enough!

Thanks for the replies!

I checked out ID's website but it looks like all they have in halos is 18k WG? I need platinum.

The width is 1.8mm. I thought that was pretty standard, but then again I don't know halos. How wide are they usually?

BUMP! :)

I contacted ID and am working on looking at some of their Henri and Gabriel settings. Regarding the previous post suggesting that 1.8mm might not be sturdy enough - some of the gabriel halos are 1.5mm! Should I really be looking for something 2+ mm in width?

Thank you,
Clara

Yes I would still be looking for a 2mm. I mean if you think about it, a shank with diamonds has metal taken out of it to fit the stones. So just think if its like 1.5 , 1.8 mm with diamonds, imagine how little metal is there were the diamonds are.

Are you talking about halo width of width of the shank/band? 1.8 is the minimum for a safe pave shank but the halo should be smaller.
