Hi all, it's been quite a while since I posted here. I am considering resetting my pear into a halo setting and found one on James Allen that I love and the price is decent. I spoke with one of their customer reps and I would have to send my ring to them and they would do the reset work. I have never dealt with online jewelry business before so I am a bit nervous. I saw good reviews for JA but also saw that they were recently bought out (is that true?) Has anyone had any recent experiences dealing with JA? If so I would love your feedback before I take the plunge. Many thanks!

Can't speak for having jewellery made / altered by JA, but I bought a 3ct stone from them earlier this year and they were very good. It was an international transaction too but went without a hitch.

I had JA reset my pear a few years ago. It came out perfect and I was/am very happy with the job JA did.
However, that was before JA was bought out. There have definitely been a few issues with prongs and settings
within the last year or so. If the setting doesnt come out the way you want is it returnable? (I dont remember).
That would be one of my considerations.

Here is a pic of my reset...sorry for the huge size

I had them set three of my CS this year. They were very nice on the phone, and I love the rings! Their settings appear well-made, and I'm extremely pleased with them. I'll do another one when they have their next sale.

The company was bought about 3 years ago but the management is still the same.
James and his lovely wife are still very much involved.
James AKA Young Papa answers question on this forum from time to time.

In February, I sent them my oval diamond to be reset. It took around 4 weeks total, and the new setting was stunning! It literally blew me away...perfect. They also sent me a new appraisal.

I have made many purchases from JA over the years. Since you are switching to halo, I thought it will be relevant to write about my experience with them about my halo ring. I got a round 2.84ct emerald set in a YG halo ring from JA a few years ago.

A video of my ring is on their website too.

I have been wearing this ring for several years now and even sent it back to them to resize. The ring is definitely well made and sturdy. I had a smooth experience. The sales reps were eager to help and prompt in response.

I hope this helps.

Beautiful! Your pear reminds me of mine. More rounded and less pointy if that makes sense.

Sorry reply was meant for someone else. Novice lol

Did you ever post your oval in its new setting? I'm curious how it turned out!

That's really pretty @Heidibrooke ! It looks lovely on you! I love their claw prongs too!
