Hi,

I have been searching for some diamond earrings, and am still looking while I wait to hear back from BGD & Whiteflash with pricing (it''s taking quite a few days between one email to them and one back to me unfortunately giving me more time to speculate!!) and I saw these and am just wondering who thinks the extra $299 is worth it to get the Whiteflash version of what looks pretty much like the same earring? The whiteflash ones are ACA and marginally larger diamonds, but without seeing them in person it''s hard to know whether such small diamonds will really look very much different between one colour grading and a couple of clarity gradings?? Does anyone have either of these sets themselves to give me an idea??

The WF ones are gorgeous. Someone on PS just got them and they looked great on her ears. I haven''t seen the JA ones. I can''t remember who though.

Even though I don''t have any ACA''s, I think they would be worth the extra money.

As regards the vendors I have bought from both and (at the time) both were fine. JA has a slight advantage in my mind.

I would wonder if it is worth spending the extra $$$ on such a small piece. I did see the WF version on a PS''er recently and they did look beautiful.

My 0.02 is go with JA.

The ACAs are always nice but in this case I think the JA would be perfect and you''d save the extra $$ for something else where you''d notice the difference. Once on your ears I don''t think you''ll be able to tell the difference between the WF and JA earrings.

ditto.... JA is better for a purchase this size IMO...

loveloveloveit, I have the 6.25 mm WF flower cluster earrings and chose them over the JA because of the size (the 6.25 are VERY delicate and I didn''t want them smaller), the setting type (the WF are flat and the JA looks to be a basket type of setting) and lastly because the post location(WF is in the middle and JA is on the edge). I hope this helps. Both are beautiful so you can''t go wrong either way!

Here is an earshot of my WF earrings...

sorry meant to add, that if you were looking for larger ctw then its'' nice to go with WF, but for virtually the same carat weight, I''d opted to go with JA, but seeing as the posts sits differently that maybe something to consider as well.

Why not order both and compare, and then return one? It would be a great comparison for ps folks too!!

Thanks everyone, heb1976 especially that''s incredibly helpful ... I can''t imagine how "delicate" the smallest versions would be!!

I am tossing up between these flower clusters and a huggie style about 2cm long, which have a much greater tcw but therefore are also a bit more dressy. My mother is a very simple lady, but if we are going to buy her diamonds I kind of want to get the most bang for my buck!!

Can I have an opion please on whether you all think a 60 year old would prefer studs or the huggies?? I think my mum would be content with the James Allen version as the basket style would probably suit her, and the post being not centred also wouldn''t concern her so thanks for pointing out the subtle differences to me.

Now, I should be able to do a poll ... let''s see if I can work that out!

oh thats hard to say. do you know what her jewelry taste is like. my mom wears huggies (60 years old), and i have a couple of diamond huggies that i wear and i sleep with them on as well.

I also wanted to say that one of the reason why she wears huggie is because her hands are not as precise anymore in putting those backings on studs and it takes a her a little more time, so with huggeis she doesn''t have to worry about them or lose a backing, kwim? but again its all personal .

What is a huggie? Haven''t bought a earring set for my girlfriend yet...

Only problem with that is the shipping fees to return, which can be substantial.

As for whether your mother would prefer studs or huggies, what does she normally wear? Hoops? Studs? Danglies?

These are huggies, no backings that you need to attach, its all one piece,
-LOVELOVE- I don't think they are too dressy at all, I wear them for everyday wear, they are so comfortable and goes well with anything

If you are looking for your mother I would suggest the huggies. The cluster style, in my opinion, looks young. They are very delicate and pretty but remind me of something for a younger woman.

Thanks, Lorelei and D&T. :)

Lovelove- Ok MY VOTE goes to HUGGIES,, just for the pure reason I stated previously, I really like both, but now I have to agree with swingirl

Hey, thanks everyone so much. It seems the overwhelming vote (even without me managing the poll function) is the huggies. I do love them as well. At least I can borrow them potentially ;-)

She normally wears very small studs, but that''s why I quite like the idea of getting her something a bit more significant. She wears her hair just below her ears so you barely ever see studs on her. the huggies will be a bit more obvious. I shall try to attach a pic of the ones we''ve decided on. Theyre a bit more delicate than the channel set as they simply have a shared prong setting between each stone.

D&T, Lorelei & Swingirl, thanks for your opinions. Lorelei, those huggies you have posted - where are they from can I ask?

Thanks again, the deal is done, just have to wait on their arrival now.

Geckodani, you''re right about the shipping cost. It''s $40 to get them here so double that for two pairs from different vendors and also add back returning one, for a purchase this size it''s just not worth it. I''m really pleased though, we''re getting them from BGD and Lesley has been hugely helpful as well as finding me something that is hopefully perfect. WF starting off quoting a whole heap more for shipping (ie $90USD) which really made them far more expensive.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

Wanted to show you the earrings I have ordered today ... fingers crossed they will be perfect. Until I see them in person though I am very nervous ... these are the huggies I was trying (poorly) to describe!

Finally, here is an ear shot from BGD ...

thanks geckodani, Im really not certain I shouldn''t have gone for simple studs now that ive seen a pair just posted from BGD but too late now!! should arrive this week so i''ll definitely post final pics when i have them in my hot little hands

Don''t worry you will love the single shared prong huggies. I have a pair just like the pics you posted, and I love mine. I wear them a lot, a couple of times a week, and that''s saying something because I have quite a few pairs of earrings.

Ditto! Those are stunning...I would consider trading my studs for those (if anyone would buy them). What is the tcw?

oh my... those are incredible!!! great pick!

Those are stunning.

Mind if I ask if they were in the same price range as the WF huggie earrings? Also what is the ctw?

Thanks!!!
