Hello everyone, I found this site while looking at jamesallen.com reviews and started looking around. eveyron here seems nice so I figured I'd ask for some advice and suggestions.

I want to pop the question this christmas. My budget is about $3,700 for the diamond and setting included.

The criteria i've been looking to buy with the following criteria

Princess Cut Diamond
Size - .80 - .90ct ( i would love bigger but this has been what i've seen in my $ range)
Cut - good and above
Clarity -VS2 and above
Color - I and above

I like james allen because you can see the diamonds, and the not paying tax as well as the pricescope discount are great features as well. I also need to use multiple credit cards and they said that wouldnt be a problem either. So as of now they are who i prefer to use. I basically want something that looks eye clean and sparkles (because size and sparkles are all she really cares about).

I am skimping on the setting, by just going with a 2mm Knife edge white gold setting but I thought the money would be better spent on the diamond. Below are the diamonds i was looking at. On some of the diamonds like the one below it has the black x in the middle is that bad? The one i was thinking of the most is the larger .92 ct one, but would there be a benefit to going with one of the other stones, or is there something else anyone would suggest?

Any and all advice is extemely appreciated. Thank you so much.

If I had to pick from those three, I'd go with the .84 H VVS1. The 0.15mm size difference betwen that and the .92 is negligable, plus it has a better cut and color. The VVS1 is overkill on the clarity, but it doesn't look like you have a choice for a lower clarity based on their inventory.

Go down to VS1 and VS2. You are overpaying for something you cannot see. VS is still a very nice clarity. I'd go no lower than H color in a princess.

Thank you all very much for the info, It's very much so appreciated.

Hi everyone, so i think i am going to go with this stone, i know the clarity is really high, but it is basically everything I am looking for. I got the idealscope images, but i dont really know what I am looking for.

below is what their rep that sent the images said about the stone. Does anyone see anything bad about this deal? Thank you again.

"I'm happy to say that our gemologist has determined that this diamond has nice light performance and will offer you a beautiful sparkle. It has a higher H color performance and faces perfectly eye clean, as you would expect. This diamond will look great mounted in any setting and I believe you'll be very happy when you see it for yourself."
