I have just gotten a diamond (and set into a ring) from James Allen.
I am served by Jim Schultz, CEO of James Allen. All I can say is, they have made me a fan. Jim is so nice and cool. He gives good valuable advice for me and is very prompt in replying emails. Shipping from them is extremely quick! Just to note I am from Singapore so it says alot since any shipping back would cost me dearly...
Only good things about James Allen. If you need to know about their upgrade policy, click here...
PS: In case you are wondering, I do not get any commission for promoting for them. Jim is really that wonderful...
We purchased from James Allen and I would reccomend them to anyone. I am extremely happy with my stone and the service I got from them. I trust them very very much. There really was nothing I disliked about them at all. Did you look at their website www.jamesallen.com ? Their upgrade policy should be right on there, I don''t know it off the top of my head.
I love to hate Jim, and hate to love him.
I bought from him just over 2 years ago, and just recently, when talking to my children, my wife told them that in the future, if they''re looking for a good diamond, they could ask their father. From the point of view of this comment...all the rest could be regarded as rather unimportant.
Jim seems to take intelligent advantage of resources it''s inefficient for him to invest in, and in this way, he passes along savings and value to his customer.
Jim has some possible issues with quality control, which I can only make inferences about from this board, and as a past customer. To take a simple example from customers currently cycling through...Spidey didn''t get an appraisal...who knows why.
Although I did not feel like a "valued" customer, I came to him as a "local," living nearby, and I think that probably colored my relationship with him. Also, Devientrow did the same, and she seems happier. Go figure. Generally, from reading here, as I do, most are quite happy with Jim. Odds are quite high you will be, too.
Jim''s shop has had two incarnations, and I bought from him in his earlier one...as Dirt Cheap Diamonds. Both continue.
Likewise, Jim has had 2 incarnations on this board, the more recent being as, I think, youngpapa. But, I don''t think he''s written in quite awhile.
Some people pay a premium to get their diamonds local. Though it''s not been mentioned here that I can think of...and especially, for those of us who hang around Pricescope a while...it may also not be unreasonable to pay for the patronage of a vendor on these boards. Several do share of themselves here. It''s a value added thing, too.
