Hello fellow Pricescopers!!

So, I''ve been looking for a really bright, pinpoint sparkle type of diamond. I just found one on James Allen. It''s specs are as follows:

2.77 ct
F color
VS2
Cut grade: Very Good
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good (that concerns me)
Table: 56
Depth: 59.7
Crown: 29
Pavillion: 41.4
LGF: 85

Scores 1.0 BIC on HCA. It''s WAAAAY out of AGS Ideal and GIA Excellent though. What do you think?

With a shallower than ideal crown angle (29 degrees) and crown height (12%), many people would tell you to pass on this stone.

However, I have seen many of these shallow crown / shallow angle stones, and I have to tell you, some are breathtaking in their brilliance (white light return). Not as much fire (colored light return) as an ideal cut, but often amazing stones nonetheless.

The contrast pattern will be slightly less than an ideal cut, but just slightly less.

This will be a very bright stone with I think that "pinpoint" type of sparkle you are talking about.

This will be a stone which will have to be seen to be judged. It might be one of those stones that you pull in for a viewing and say "Oh My God!", and the rest is history. Or you might pull it in and say "Ehhh...", and the rest is history. Depends on what you're looking for in a diamond.

Definitely worth taking a look at, I'd say.

interesting diamond.
What is the girdle rated at?
Get an IS image.

Rich and Karl~

Thanks for the input. I will check on the girdle. I wonder if James Allen would be able to provide an IdealScope Image. I''ll call them on Monday. Karl, what you describe is EXACTLY what I''m looking for - bright, white, pinpoint sparkle. I''m OK with less fire, in fact I kind of prefer it. I''m a little weird I guess. Oh well!! Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I''ll let you know what I find when I contact James Allen on Monday.

It could be very pretty, but with your budget I think you can find a more outstanding diamond!

JA should have no problem getting you an IS. Please post the IS. What are the dimensions on that one?

If the girdle is ok then it might be a good diamond for you, JA will be able to help you determine that.

Not weird, some people prefer brilliance over fire. It''s all personal preference!
