James Allen diamond

I'm leaning towards a simple six prong solitaire to let the diamond be the centerpiece.

Ok. I've been reading and a it of sources state that if you have a lower color diamond, not to place it in a white gold setting because the contrast will bring out the yellow tint in your diamond?

What color metal does your girlfriend like? White vs yellow metal is very much a personal preference. Some really do not like yellow gold and vice versa. I would choose what she likes since she will be wearing it.

She likes yellow gold. So I purchased an 18k yellow gold ring with white gold head. It's the legato sleek line solitaire from white flash website.

Yellow gold shank with a white basket sounds like a great compromise.

I think she'll love it. Also, she wears both white and gold jewelry and has a tan complexion. So I think the yellow gold will complement her.

It sounds beautiful, I think you've done a great job!

Please post photos of the finished product and of course we always love a good hand shot when your girlfriend gets the ring :appl: .

+1 this sounds perfect!

These are the specs for the diamond I ended up purchasing.

Again, thanks everyone, especially JDDN. You saved me from buying a "pretty on paper diamond" that I would have been freatly disappointed in.

So happy to help! You're spending a lot of money so you deserve to buy a really gorgeous diamond and setting for your someone special.

The glamour shot looks just beautiful and I know the ACA stone will look stunning in it.

Have fun with the proposal ;) .

I don't think my other post went through. They took almost $350 off the legato setting to help me stay in my budget without sacrificing the quality of my diamond.

Also, she loves 18k yellow gold but I didn't think I'd be able to afford it. I got the 18k yellow gold shank and a white gold basket at everyone's suggestion.

Oh, and my apologies. This is our 5 year anniversary and I wanted to 'upgrade' her ring. The first time around I make a rookie mistake and went for the biggest (1.36carat) diamond I could afford and sacrificed quality. You can guess what that diamond looked like. A big ole dull piece of glass.

Well congratulations to you both on 5 years! What a sweet anniversary gift. I'm sure she'll be blown away compared to her original stone.

Send some hand shots when you give it to her!

Oh and that is some awesome customer service from WF to help you stay within budget. Kudos to them as I'm sure they've earned a repeat customer. Think 10 year anniversary :D .

I sure will get her to post hand shots. White flash has a customer for life and I'm referring 2 relatives who are getting married soon. It's good to have reassurance I did the right thing. Some folks think I'm making a mistake going down in size. I told the wife I was sending her old ring off to get resized and replated. I can't wait to see her face when she opens the box and sees this beauty!

Well….WF has a lifetime trade up policy that is awesome  !

Will be looking out for hand shots!

Hi. Should I be concerned about the cloud and crystal noted on my VS2 diamond I just purchased? I've been doing some reading and it seems a lot of folks are pretty against crystals and say they may not be eye clean and show as black specs.

The crystals arent even the grade setting inclusions, it's a vs2, and whiteflash gave it the eye clean mark. I wouldn't worry a bit.

What does that mean "the crystal isn't the grade setting inclusion"?

Wait. I get it. It's because the cloud is listed first and the crystal second. Thanks.

In the box and a quick hand shot.

It is beautiful and classic! Well done. So how does the ACA compare to the "dead" diamond you talked about in your other post??

This diamond is a ball of fire. Sparkly and beautiful!

I didn't think the ACA would disappoint but glad to hear you can see the difference with your own eyes!

What size finger is that ring for? It look's to have good finger coverage too.

Size 6.

Wow, it looks beautiful on her hand and it's just gorgeous.

Hope she loves it!

Thanks. YES! Says she'll never take it off! That it's so comfortable too.
