DS, didn''t realise you''d already answered Addy''s Q. Thanks.

Lien, I also want as little metal as possible. I definitely want 1 pointers because I want mine to be super delicate. The only thing is, I think it would be insane to pay $2000 for something so tiny when DeeJay's look just fine in the $300 range. I'd rather spend thousands on something that has a more significant appearance! However, I don't want bad stones either! Pearlman's has some worth checking out, I think, and today is the final day of their special holiday discount:

ETA: I tried to call and got the machine, so they may be closed today. I emailed them and asked for size options for this particular pair. Since they are in 18k, I imagine they are pretty nice quality, but much less expensive than custom. I'll let you know what I find out.

HI:

Great find DS!!!! I feel the same way about the jackets. BTW, what is the discount??

cheers--Sharon

Take a look at the homepage of the site. I''d email them today for info if you are interested and mention that you''d like to use the gift cards if you decide to purchase. I am hoping that this will work since today is Dec. 31.

Here is the jacket so you can see the little bar/hole contraption. Let me see if I can get you a better close up and a side view.

This tilted view better shows what''s going on there.

Have to bolt off right now and buy a car (the HH is sitting here tapping his foot right behind me) but let me know if you want any more shots/views and I''ll take them when we get back.

Dee Jay,

Thank you so much for those pics. They give me a really good idea of what to ask for. Actually, I like yours the best - not least because they''re such good value for money, but also as mentioned, they''re so dedicate and elegant. Tell me, does the vendor of these jackets sell them online too? Or is there any other way I could get hold of a pair? Thank you.

I have seen 1.5 with jackets (3cttw), on a small ear and thought it wasn''t too too big. Very flashy, but nice. Then again, I live in Orange County, CA.....

I''ve looked everywhere for the receipt and I can''t seem to find it. I have one other idea of where it might be and I''ll check tomororw. I do so hate to disappoint you! Since it was a cash transaction and I figured I would never see these people again I didn''t pay much attention to the paperwork, but I''ll look again and let you know if I locate it. Hopefully I can give you at least a phone number, if not a website, and you can get in contact with them.

Hope you find it Dee Jay, love those jackets.

Did you get a "show brochure"? Maybe if you saw the
company name listed, that would ring a bell!!

I will be at our next Jewelry Show, so I will be
casing out every vendor looking for jackets.

My studs are 1.30ct each, but I think I can pull
off the extra bling

It looks like those are sold out. But I saw them yesterday and could not figure them out. It doesn''t look like there is a hole in the center of the backing to put the stud through!

I am so sorry to put you through so much trouble. Don''t worry, DJ. I just really LOOOOVEEE yr jackets but I could always ask LM to create something similar, albeit at a (much) higher price. But really, I''ve troubled you enough, sweetie. Thank you lots.

Phoenix, no worries! I''ve torn the house apart and can''t seem to find the receipt though. The next gem show isn''t until May and I doubt you want to wait that long, but if you''re still holding out then let me know and I''ll be sure to look for them.

I really like your jackets DJ, I''ve been searching online with no luck. I love how the prongs are just barely there, not to mention how much you paid for them! What a deal!

HI ya''ll:

What did you decide on Phoenix? DS? I am still comtemplating some for myself. I plan on hitting two B & M''s downtown tomorrow and look-see. Jan. clearances sales going on everywhere......

cheers--Sharon

Sorry to have taken so long to reply, Sharon.

To be honest, the prices that WF and LM have quoted me are on the high side (for me) for jackets and kind of defeat the purpose of adding a little extra bling for a little more money. Their quote are abt $2-3k and I know that if you pay that kind of money, you'd get a really nice product (esp. LM's); and I guess in the scheme of things, they're not expensive compared the actual cost of my earrings (about $18-20k is my estimation of current value); but at the moment I'm not sure that's what I'd like to pay just for jackets. Moreover, I'm not sure I'd like wearing them - I'm experimenting and see if I'd like wearing them. I remember Mara saying that she pushes them back quite tight when she wears them (correct me if I remember wrongly, Mara) and I tend to wear my earrings quite loose.

So in short, I am putting this project on hold for a while. Perhaps I'll get a local jeweller to do a cheaper (translating into less than $500) version for my smaller studs (0.80tcwt - bezel set) and see if I like them first before I get either WF or LM to do jackets for my larger studs.

(Actually, I like DJ's the best - short of harrassing you to get me a pair, DJ

, I may get my jeweller's to replicate them)

Thank you all for your help. I'll keep you posted if there's any development.

Hello again,

I was thinking about you as I stalked the earring sections this morning; when I saw this:

http://www.jamesallen.com/products/item_76-2337.asp (These are RSG, but they would probably sell the set alone...)

Could this be a 2 birds 1 stone type scenario? You get the bigger size if you reset into this earring with a built in halo? Or do you want to keep the simple set and have the jackets for variety?

Steel, thanks for finding the earrings from James Allen. I''m not Phoenix, but I''m also looking for jackets. I sent them an email to see if they could make the earrings into jackets. Just crossing my fingers now.
